Lucio, 53, was sentenced to death in 2008 for the Feb. 17, 2007 death of her two-year-old daughter, Mariah Alvarez. Alvarez was the youngest of Lucio’s 14 children.

Earlier on Thursday, Archbishop Coakley tweeted that he “offered Mass this morning for Julis and Gov. Stitt. It’s in the Lord’s hands now.”
While noting that “grave crimes such as this deserve grave punishments,” Archbishop Pierre said in a plea to Missouri Gov. Eric Parsons, R, that “His Holiness wishes to place before you the simple fact of Mr. Johnson’s humanity and the sacredness of all human life.”
Bishop Estevez notes that no death row inmate in Florida has been granted clemency since 1983, and with 350 death row inmates, Florida has the largest active death row in the United States.
