A Christian woman has pleaded not guilty to allegedly breaching a 'buffer zone' law after silently praying outside an abortion business in the U.K.
‘We oppose this law because it is disproportionate and undemocratic,’ the bishops said in a Jan. 6 statement. ‘The Catholic Church does not condone harassment or intimidation, but that was not the intention of this law.’
The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to decide whether or not it will take up the case on Nov. 22.
Pro-life activist Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, director of March for Life UK, called the decision to pass the law a “national disgrace.”
Even though police officials and health administrators have stated there has been no criminality associated with pro-life actions outside of abortion facilities, Ireland’s government continues to push forward legislation banning such advocacy.

Debra Vitagliano, a 64-year-old mother of three, brought the suit against Westchester County, where she lived when she was training to be a sidewalk counselor in 2022.
The final vote came the day after a pro-life woman was arrested in Birmingham for the second time for praying silently in an alleged violation of a local buffer-zone law.
The Crown Prosecution Service has dropped the charges against the priest but said the charges could be reinstated.
The region’s Catholic bishops have called the act “an unjust law,” one “which was imposed without the consent of the people of Northern Ireland.”
