COMMENTARY: From the outset there has been something strange with the Vatican’s non-rollout of the Year of St. Joseph. And it is creating another unnecessary controversy.
The institute was founded in 1981 as a center for the study of Christian anthropology and theology, in light of the philosophical ideas expressed in the Polish pope’s work “Love and Responsibility,” and his teaching cycle known as the “Theology of the Body.”
COMMENTARY: There is a synergy among these institutes that may unfortunately change should any one of them take on a ‘different direction.’
The document, whose signatories include Cardinal Raymond Burke, upholds key doctrines in areas ranging from the Eucharist and marriage to capital punishment and clerical celibacy.
The bishops, at their plenary assembly in Warsaw June 8, said the Pope’s exhortation is ‘an expression of his concern for the good health of marital love in the family.’
