Since its refounding in 2017, the institute’s main focus is to promote the work of the family synods of 2015-2016 and Pope Francis’ document Amoris Laetitia.
Pope Francis’ video message was played during a webinar entitled “Our Daily Love,” organized by the Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life; the Diocese of Rome; and the John Paul II Pontifical Theological Institute.
COMMENTARY: From the outset there has been something strange with the Vatican’s non-rollout of the Year of St. Joseph. And it is creating another unnecessary controversy.
The institute was founded in 1981 as a center for the study of Christian anthropology and theology, in light of the philosophical ideas expressed in the Polish pope’s work “Love and Responsibility,” and his teaching cycle known as the “Theology of the Body.”
COMMENTARY: There is a synergy among these institutes that may unfortunately change should any one of them take on a ‘different direction.’
