Come Celebrate With Us

Publisher's Note

The Register and EWTN teams commit themselves every day to bringing you the best Catholic news in the media. I invite you to join us to celebrate their recent achievements — and personally meet both them and Catholicism’s Father Robert Barron at our upcoming EWTN Family Celebration in Birmingham, Ala.

EWTN and the Register last month took home a total of 10 awards at the Catholic Press Association’s (CPA) annual Catholic Media Conference.

The Register won eight CPA awards — including top awards for our page-one treatment of the election of Pope Francis and for Rebecca Taylor’s commentary on bioethics. EWTN won two Gabriel Awards — including one for “Religious Television Station of the Year.”

“The Joy of the Gospel” is the theme of our annual, free Family Celebration, to be held at the Birmingham Convention Center Aug. 16-17. It’s certainly a joy for me to meet you personally and thank you for your prayerful and material support.

In addition to talks by Father Barron, the event will feature talks by Father Timothy Gallagher (Finding God in All Things, Living the Discerning Life), Father Larry Richards (Be a Man, Living Right With Dr. Ray) and Joanna Bogle (Feasts & Seasons). The full array of EWTN show hosts and the Franciscan Missionaries of the Eternal Word will be on hand to meet you.

God bless you. I hope to see you at the Family Celebration!

Palestinian Christians celebrate Easter Sunday Mass at Holy Family Church in Gaza City on March 31, amid the ongoing battles Israel and the Hamas militant group.

People Explain ‘Why I Go to Mass’

‘Why go to Mass on Sundays? It is not enough to answer that it is a precept of the Church. … We Christians need to participate in Sunday Mass because only with the grace of Jesus, with his living presence in us and among us, can we put into practice his commandment, and thus be his credible witnesses.’ —Pope Francis
