Happy New Year! This week on Register Radio we ring in 2026 with a final look back at 2025. We are joined by one of the perpetual pilgrims and Register contributor Marina Frattaroli to assess the “fruits of the jubilee.” And then, we meet a new staff writer at the Register, Gigi Duncan, and hear about her first months of reporting and covering the challenging stories of the last year.
Special year commemorates the 800th anniversary of the saint’s death.
Archbishop José Gomez has declared 15 sites in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as pilgrimage destinations during the 2026 Jubilee Year of St. Francis.
The group was composed of a total of 13 people from Valencia, including prisoners, volunteers, and the chaplain.
About 6,000 pilgrims from some 90 countries took part in the final major celebration of the Holy Year.
The Holy Door is scheduled to be opened again in eight years, in 2033, for the Jubilee of the Redemption.

Pope Leo XIV will hold the jubilee audience and address his remarks specifically to those working in the justice system.
With these words, Leo XIV emphasized that even though the Jubilee has ended, God’s mercy remains ever open to believers.
