The Augustine Institute (AugustineInstitute.org) is launching, in time for Valentine’s Day, Beloved: Finding Happiness in Marriage.

The Denver-based graduate school for theology and evangelization is working to combat cultural ideas about love and marriage that are contrary to God’s plan for marriage.

“The marriage covenant, by which a man and a woman form with each other an intimate communion of life and love, has been founded and endowed with its own special laws by the Creator,” the Catechism of the Catholic Church states (1660). “By its very nature it is ordered to the good of the couple, as well as to the generation and education of children. Christ the Lord raised marriage between the baptized to the dignity of a sacrament.”

Four German Bishops Resist Push to Install Permanent ‘Synodal Council’

Given the Vatican’s repeated interventions against the German process, the bishops said they would instead look to the Synod of Bishops in Rome. Meanwhile, on Monday, German diocesan bishops approved the statutes for a synodal committee; and there are reports that the synodal committee will meet again in June.
