Georgia Senate Showdown

Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin is the latest political big gun to train her sights on Georgia’s U.S. Senate run-off election.

With the so much at stake in the Dec. 2 race — which could give the Democrats a filibuster-proof 60-seat Senate “supermajority” — both parties are pouring resources into the battle between incumbent Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss and Democratic challenger Jim Martin.

The pro-life implications are also potentially huge, as the Daily Blog reported here.

“Palin is the latest high-profile politician to head to Georgia to campaign for either Chambliss or Martin,” CNN’s Political Ticker reported today. “Former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore have campaigned for Martin, while Republican presidential nominee John McCain, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney have appeared on behalf of Chambliss. Today, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will campaign for the Republican senator.”
