Beatification of Servant of God Father Stanley Rother

EWTN “The shepherd cannot leave his flock,” said missionary Father Stanley Rother (1935-1981), returning to his Tz’utujil Mayan parishioners in Santiago Atitlán, Sololá, Guatemala, in 1980, despite knowing he was on a death-squad hit list in the midst of a genocidal war in which hundreds of thousands died. He was murdered in his rectory in the early hours of July 28, 1981. Pope Francis declared him a martyr last December.  His sister, Sister Marita Rother of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, will be at the beatification in Oklahoma City. Re-airs at midnight.
