Beatification of Servant of God Father Stanley Rother

EWTN “The shepherd cannot leave his flock,” said missionary Father Stanley Rother (1935-1981), returning to his Tz’utujil Mayan parishioners in Santiago Atitlán, Sololá, Guatemala, in 1980, despite knowing he was on a death-squad hit list in the midst of a genocidal war in which hundreds of thousands died. He was murdered in his rectory in the early hours of July 28, 1981. Pope Francis declared him a martyr last December.  His sister, Sister Marita Rother of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, will be at the beatification in Oklahoma City. Re-airs at midnight.

 

Holy Mass & Dedication of Our Lady of Fatima Statue

EWTN Bishop Frank Caggiano of Bridgeport, Connecticut, will say Mass and be the homilist for this dedication in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.
