When the Catholic Marketing Network convenes in King of Prussia, PA on August 3-5, a concurrent gathering of Catholic writers will be taking place, as well. The good news is that there’s still space available for those interested in attending.
The third annual Catholic Writers’ Conference Live is taking place at the Scanticon Hotel Valley Forge, sponsored by the Catholic Writer’s Guild, whose mission is to create a rebirth of Catholic arts and letters. The conference will provide Catholic authors with the opportunity to meet and share their ideas and faith with editors, publishers, fellow writers, and bookstore owners.
The conference will feature over 30 sessions taught by professionals in writing, marketing, blogging, and publishing, as well as pitch sessions where writers can meet privately with representatives from four publishers (myself included).
“Our conference allows you to connect personally with Catholic publishers and retailers, to show your work, learn the craft, and network,” said Ann Lewis, CWG president. “Our conferences are totally focused on encouraging faithful Catholics to share genuine Catholic culture and faith in their writing no matter what genre.”
Some of this year’s speakers will include Claudia Volkman, representative for Servant Books/St. Anthony Messenger Press; Regina Doman, author and acquisitions editor for Sophia Institute Press; and Donna-Marie Cooper O’Boyle, EWTN TV host of “Everyday Blessings for Catholic Moms.”
Also at this year’s conference, the CWG will be presenting its first ever Catholic Arts and Letters Awards (called the “Lilies”) for the best adult and children’s Catholic fiction.
The Catholic Writers Guild sponsors this live conference each August as well as an online conference every February. Registration for the conference is $90 for CWG members or $100 for non-members. Students are only $42, and priests or religious are invited to attend at no cost. Further information on the conference and registration is available online at www.catholicwritersconference.com.

I heartily recommend this conference—I attended it last year and enjoyed the atmosphere of support and being positive about the contributions Catholic authors can make. The opportunities to meet people, discuss ideas, and talk to publishers and media representatives are wonderful. I will be attending this year and giving a presentation too!
Dear Tim, Thank you for bringing our attention to The Catholic Writers Guild and Catholic Marketing Network.
This is very useful information for Catholics who would like to write.
I am, myself, struggling – every day! – to get together a book tentatively titled “Practicing Christianity In The Marketplace”. About applying Gospel principles to Business decision-making. I know one day Our Lord will make it happen.
And, that’s when your information about The Catholic Writers Guild and Catholic Marketing Network will come in real handy.
In the meantime, I request your prayers, and the prayers of your readership, for the progress of this endeavor.
By the way, I note with some regret, that you have not published, within these pages, an article on Catholic Education, for some time. Hopefully, you will rectify this omission soon. Regards…..Egbert F Bhatty
Tim: Good to speak with you at CMN and learn about your new radio venture. And thanks for mentioning the Catholic Writers Guild and our writers’ conference in this venue. The Guild also sponsors an online writers’ conference in March that is FREE and is another fine opportunity to network with Catholic publishers, editors, illustrators and writers in all genres. Those interested can visit catholicwritersguild.com later in Fall for details on that.
Grace and peace,
John Desjarlais
