Hollywood will be making a movie about The Vatican. What could go wrong?
And it’s even worse than you think.
Warner Bros is making a movie called The Vatican, and it’s reportedly some kind of horror/conspiracy movie. Hmmm ... a movie that says the Church is up to something nefarious? Well, a movie like that has never been made, right?
But wait. It gets even worse. The director of the movie Devil Inside is directing The Vatican. Here’s the poster for that movie:
Yup. That’s a possessed nun with dollar signs in her eyes.
The Devil Inside movie opened up with a saying on screen: “The Vatican does not approve this film.” Something tells me that the Vatican won’t approve the next one either. But something also tells me these folks won’t care.
Oh, and don’t confuse this movie with the upcoming Vatican Tapes that centers on a series of events that unfold after a tape gets leaked from the Vatican displaying an exorcism that goes wrong.
Looks like Catholics are popular again in Hollywood.

This makes me puke! Hollywood has the devil inside, an institution full of nitwits
It continues to be ” War Against the Church and Religion “.
It follows the premise that if you say it often enough , people will believe it.
I think the conspiracy is one of the best parts of being Catholic.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been to a conspiracy meeting yet. I keep going to the meeting places which Father surreptitiously indicates to us church-goers in his homilies (which must be decoded, of course), but no one is ever there.
I think there may be a conspiracy within the conspiracy.
P.S. Sorry I didn’t type this in the Register’s secret code… or did I?
Already an avid reader of bishopaccountability.org, so I’ve had my share of scary. Not the fake stuff. The real stuff.
One way that we might not tempt these idiots to mock us with tales of corruption is not to be so… well, corrupt. There. I said it.
I wonder if they would ever dare to do something similar against Muslims or Jews… o wait…. Catholics don’t burn embassies, flags and American soldiers…. now this is why Hollywood mocks Catholics all the time !
There are a lot of Catholics in the U.S. and if every one of us DID NOT go to see this movie, hopefully Hollywood would lose money on this film. WORDS MEAN NOTHING, ACTIONS COUNT!
That’s not the actual poster for the film. I’m guessing it’s a poster somebody made after the film’s successful opening weekend. The original poster did not include dollar signs. Not sure where the outrage is coming from - are nuns incapable of being possessed? Wasn’t a priest possessed in The Rite? And wasn’t that film hailed by many Catholics for its serious treatment of possession based on a well-regarded book? If anything, a film about exorcism in which the devil really exists and priests really can do battle with him would seem to me to be pro-Catholic, not anti-. And the Vatican has seen plenty of corruption in its day. A film about it does nothing to argue against the truth of religion. Hollywood likes money more than it likes ideologies.
p.s. saying “the Vatican does not approve this film” was a pure marketing ploy, nothing more. An attempt to put the viewer in sympathy with the rogue exorcists in the movie. I’m willing to bet that the Vatican was never actually given a chance to approve or disapprove of the film.
There are a lot of people who do not seem to be able to think critically or have really been persuaded by propaganda against the Church, and they may be willing to believe that a film depicting “the Vatican” or nuns as evil is depicting an inner reality even if the depiction seems obviously malicious to us. There are many who sin through their enjoyment of vile depictions of the Church, Jesus’ beloved Bride and His Body.
I want to see some films about sin and redemption, about Mercy. A lot of people are so ill-formed in Christianity that they do not understand that the occurrence of sin in the members of the Church (like ourselves, it is not just other people who are sinners) cannot make the Church herself evil, that we can only receive our salvation through the Catholic Church, through Christ’s Body. He is risen, He is a greater good than all the evil there could possibly be in the world.
Hollywood will be making a movie about The Vatican. What could go wrong?
I realize that you were being rhetorical, but man: your first sentence answers your question, I’m afraid.
I’m with you, Tim. I’m still waiting for my invitation to join the Vatican’s crack sniper/ninja squad.
We inadvertently give them script material. Soon the world will know that making the sign of the cross is our secret handshake, previously known only to believers.
Don’t forget about the Sacred Monkeys in the basement of St. Peter’s
Jesus will always be with Holy Mother Church. Hollywood is doomed to die. Kathy
We Catholics are 25% of the pop. in this country. We can be a strong force if we came together.
Great! Will there be a Know-Nothing rally to accompany the film’s release?
Satan is being unleashed in the last days and you can sure tell it! He knows his time is short! Don’t worry…..Jesus Christ wins in the end!
Wouldn’t it be nice if we Catholics picket movie theaters that show these movies. I will and I hope you will as well. Even if you are the only person standing there holding a sign, you will create awareness. Do it.
Hey, my God-loving people. Before I read all your responses let me remind you that our Mother Church is used to Hollywood, or some other anti-Catholic character, coming up with a Catholic-bashing something around Easter. We have just celebrated Christmas and are heading to Easter. So just relax. This weather-beaten, Satan-bashed One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church has survived other persecutions, will survive this misguided abuse and many many more until the End of Time. Jesus Christ Himself promised that….and stated categorically….The Gates of Hades Shall Never Prevail Against Her. And, of course, Hollywood WOULD NEVER DARE to insult Muslim or their “Prophet” because they know America would be burned down and there would be bloody riots all over Christendom worldwide
” I’m willing to bet that the Vatican was never actually given a chance to approve or disapprove of the film.”
Not to mention that “TheVatican” does not spend “its” time examining every movie released and deciding whether to put them in “Endorsed” or “Condemned” piles, as you would think from “news” stories
Hollywood: from beautiful films about the Catholic Church like “Song of Bernadette” and “Quo Vadis” and Bing Crosby in “Bells of St Mary’s” and “Going My Way” to this contemporary trash! Definitely a sign of the times!
As much as I’d like to go into a rant on how stupid your whining about how disrespectful the movies are towards your beliefs, I think I should just point out one key fact about why the films were made in the first place.
WE.
DON’T.
!@#$%.
CARE.
ABOUT.
YOUR.
IMAGINARY.
FRIENDS!!!!
Thank you for your time :)

On another note…have you watched the movie ‘Devil’?
I was surprised how a secular film could still bring (in a roundabout way) the truth about God’s existence and repentance.
Antigod, if you really don’t care about what we believe, then why did you come here and post?
Sorry for catching your little lie there. You’re so obsessed with what we believe you have to come here and post.
Don’t worry. Just because you’re an obsessed bigot doesn’t mean we will hold it against other atheists. It would be wrong to hold your bigoted actions against a whole group of people who didn’t do anything wrong. After all, it’s your complete lack of character and bigotry that caused you to write that. Your fault. Not theirs.
im f#@@$!G sure you all regret after the devil inside movie and the ending, its like piled up !@#$% and mix some piss in it… are you gonna take a second meal of that again,,, pay a sinema ticket to enjoy not the other way around,,, one more thing remember the director, producer, and there crew,,, at the moment go for bizare movies like avengers, chronicle, spiderman, NO MORE FU$#@D UP MOVIES PLS REMEMBER THEM WELL ok STUPID FANS
U.S. media reported that U.S. President Barack Obama next week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu talks to persuade Israel not to strike at Iran’s nuclear facilities inside the coming months.
Obama is going to be held on the 5th meeting with all the visiting Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. By then, Obama will persuade Netanyahu to wait patiently the impact played by sanctions against Iran and aware in the risk of a military strike. The Washington Post quoted a government official stated, “We are attempting to acquire Israel to attempt not to make the choice of a military strike” a situation of anonymity.
The report stated that Israeli leaders produced ??it clear that to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons capability in much less time, however the U.S. is worried that Israel’s pre-emptive strike action would trigger a regional war in the Middle East. Israel had decided to attack on Iran won’t be issued a warning signal to the Usa, the U.S. government can deny aware of developments in advance, however it also limits the Usa to safeguard its military installations inside the Middle East’s capacity.According to an opinion poll carried out in January by the U.S. media, most Americans think that financial sanctions and diplomatic way far better than military action against Iran. Therefore, the Usa and Israel for the differences in the best way to cope with the Iranian nuclear concern has elevated. Israel believes Iran is building nuclear weapons and military strikes against the window becoming closed while the U.S. is no indication that Iran is determined to producenuclear weapons, and also the severe consequences of military operations, which includes Iran’s retaliation against the Usa, the scenario inside the Middle East instability as well as the impact with the international economy .
This is ridiculous. Why is Hollywood so OBSESSED with attacking The Vatican and the Catholic Church?! Can they not attack the real enemies of America? We have done nothing wrong. In my opinion thy need to apologize publicly to make up for all that they’re doing to make us look like they “bad guys”.
I wonder how many Pastors will discuss this in their homily. Also I wonder what would happen if this was a movie about other religions with their problems. [all religions and any other organization have them] IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN. Hollywood would be afraid. We Catholics are so sure of what Christ taught, that nothing like Hollywood or any other entertainer can hurt us.
@Antigod: I think you must have an inkling of a curiosity for reading & blogging on a Catholic site. Anytime you want to really learn more or decide to enter the Catholic Church you will be very welcome.
I find it very sad that Catholics and Christians generally are so confused and intimidated that they dare not make obvious sociological points about the double standard and the hatefulness that lies behind the spate of anti-Catholic and anti-Christian films and books. Jesus instructed us to turn the other cheek but when it comes to Muslims or Klansmen we don’t interpret that as requiring passive acceptance of villification. What is different here?
Jews are running the hollywood and they are essentially anti-christian, anti-white atheists.
This is an old article…wonder why it was sent again today Feb.2013?
@Matthew-archbold “Yup. That’s a possessed nun with dollar signs in her eyes”.
(I did not realize it was $ signs)
Matthew’s piece ends with:
“Please consider a Lenten donation to the National Catholic Register!”
Could not help but laugh. ;o)
P.S. We should go back to making the Pledge to the Legion of Decency. Catholics stay home….don’t go to the movies! [and I am not kidding]
Time to start making mass-market dvd movies about who is making these movies & publishing these books—-& why. Follow the money. Time to roll up the sleeves.
