“Yes, by necessity, as it can be in prison or even in a concentration camp,” says Colin Donovan, EWTN’s vice president of theology. “Thus, priests who go camping could set up a dignified altar in God’s creation for the celebration of Mass, as St. John Paul II — whose feast day is Oct. 22 — famously did as a young priest when taking his students hiking in the mountains.”
