When it comes to caring for the less fortunate, no one reaches into their pockets more readily than people who practice a traditional religion. According to Syracuse University professor Arthur Brooks, author of a new book on charitable giving, people of faith are more likely to donate money than the non-faithful. And, when they do give, they give four times more than the non-religious — even to non-religious charities.
