Schulz’s 17,897 comic strips inventively portrayed the childhood struggles of Charlie Brown, his beagle Snoopy and their pals. They also, say his family and friends, reflected his own beliefs, self-doubts and worries. Advisory: Some grownup themes, such as divorce.
