Retirees are choosing not to retire.

A surprisingly large majority of working Americans plan to work as long as they can during retirement age, according to a new poll commissioned by the financial firm Bankrate. No fewer than 75% of respondents said they’ll work as long as they can. Nearly 40% plan to work for the love of working, while around one-third will continue to set the morning alarm because they’ll need the money. Is non-retirement a good thing or a bad thing? That’s a call best left to each individual retiree or retiree wannabe, but Psalm 92 sheds some interesting light on the subject: “The just shall … bear fruit even in old age, always vigorous and sturdy, as they proclaim: ‘The Lord is just, our rock in whom there is no wrong.’”
