The Church has been at the forefront of education almost since its founding by Jesus Christ. We at the Register also value the Church’s commitment to Catholic education, so much so that we highlight it in every issue and regularly cover it as a topic both online and on Register Radio.
The Register’s executive director, Dan Burke, and I were grateful for the opportunities to address graduates — at the College of St. Mary Magdalen in Warner, N.H., and Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio — at their commencement ceremonies earlier this month.
Both institutions have long been part of our annual Catholic Identity College Guide, which we publish every fall. This year will mark 11 years of our special supplement. Our feature story on page 11 of this issue goes into further detail regarding the commencements of other colleges and universities that we include in our guide.
In our visits to Magdalen and Franciscan, we got to see firsthand a microcosm of the kinds of men and women the authentic Catholic colleges and universities are producing, as well as the kinds of families that are entrusting their children to these institutions. I’m happy to say that it bodes well for the future of the Church.
