Come, Holy Spirit

It is sometimes difficult for us to seek Christ through all the tumult in the United States and abroad, from within the Catholic Church and without — but Christ is there, as he always has been, seeking us first.

When a democratic society like the United States is unwilling to support its founding principles, marginalizing people of faith at the expense of an ever-changing sociopolitical ideology, the Holy Spirit is there, just as he was when he founded the Church at the first Pentecost.

God has promised that he and his Church will always be there for us. But do we believe him?

As we celebrate the birthday of the Church, it’s important for us to keep our eyes focused on what is true, beautiful and unchanging and persevere through our trials with our ultimate destination — heaven — in mind. Because, as God always keeps his promises, we should, too.

God bless you!
