Gallup: America Is Pro-Life

More Americans describe themselves as “pro-life” on abortion (51%) than “pro-choice” (42%) for the first time since Gallup Poll began asking the question in 1995. So says this Gallup story.

Everyone seems to be embracing the “pro-life” name:

1. Conservatives are more pro-life than they were
2. “Moderates” are more pro-life than they were
3. Republicans are more pro-life than they were
4. Catholics are more pro-life than they were
5. Protestants are more pro-life than they were

... and 6. There’s not much gender gap on the question.

They didn’t note what we have explained before: We have known for years that people are mostly pro-life.

The story suggests a couple of reasons, though, for why the “pro-life” name is gaining in popularity. Either Obama’s extreme abortion agenda is scaring people into being pro-life, or he is redefining what “pro-choice” means in such a way that people are realizing that’s not them.

It could be that. Or it could be that people are getting sick of seeing women driven to despair and children killed ....
