Divorce Is No Joke

Film funnyman Bill Murray knows divorce is not a laughing matter.

“That was devastating,” Murray, 58, says in an Associated Press article that discusses his recent divorce from his former wife, Jennifer Butler Murray.

Said Murray, “That was the worst thing that ever happened to me in my entire life.”

Murray, whose sister Nancy is a Dominican nun, acknowledges that he suffered the profound spiritual emptiness that afflicts so many couples when they divorce.

“I was just dead, just broken,” he said. “When you’re really in love with someone and this happens — I never had anything like this happen.”

Said Murray, “It’s like your faith in people is destroyed because the person you trusted the most you can no longer trust at all. ... The person you know isn’t there anymore.”
