The clergy sex abuse scandal took a very dramatic turn this week with the release of the 11-page “Testimony” of Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganó, former apostolic nuncio – papal ambassador – of the Holy See to the United States accusing Pope Francis of covering-up for Cardinal Theodore McCarrick and calling for his resignation. Archbishop Viganó also made significant accusations against a host of Vatican officials and other prelates, including Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, D.C.
