Joseph and Mary had to stay in a stable, right? Was it uncommon for some people to sleep in the stable of an inn during busy times?
What was the Star of Bethlehem? A conjunction of planets, meteor, comet, supernatural event? What does the Church or Church Fathers say about it?
What is significant about gold, frankincense, and myrrh?
How did the birth of Jesus come to be celebrated on December 25?
Why do Eastern Orthodox churches celebrate Christmas on January 7?
What light does the Ark of the Covenant shed on Mary’s perpetual virginity, and what evidence do we have for her perpetual virginity?

Can you also post transcripts of these podcasts for people who prefer to read (or indeed, might have no choice but to read)?
“And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David: and the virgin’s name was Mary.” If the “sixth month” referred to the Jewish year starting with Rosh Hashanah, 6+0 = 12+3 means that the birth of Jesus would have taken place 3 months after the September date of Rosh Hashanah, which puts it, oh, about December 25.
Correcting the typo: 6+9 = 12+3.
MarylandBill: I’m afraid that there are no transcripts at this point. I’d love to provide them, but it takes money to get the transcriptions done, and I haven’t yet figured out a way to subsidize the transcription of my weekly podcast. If there is sufficient interest and I can find a way to cover the costs, I’d love to do it, though! Contact me at jimmyakinregister@gmail.com if you have ideas or suggestions!
Howard: It is generally understood that “the sixth month” refers not to the six month of the year but the six month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy. Thus just before we read:
[24] After these days his wife Elizabeth conceived, and *for five months* she hid herself, saying,
[25] “Thus the Lord has done to me in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.”
[26] *In the sixth month* the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
And later:
[36] And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this *is the sixth month with her who was called barren.*
