In 1929, Our Lady of Fatima appeared to Sr. Lucia and asked that a special consecration be performed by the pope. Much hinged on this.
Multiple popes have performed acts similar to the one requested, but has any of them fulfilled what was requested in 1929?
If any have, how do we know?
What did John Paul II think? What about others at the Holy See? What about Sr. Lucia herself?
And—for non-Catholics and others not familiar with Fatima—what is all of this about, anyway?
These are among the questions we explore in this week’s episode of the Jimmy Akin Podcast!

Jimmy it is bad enough that the cult of that suspended Priest: Fr. Gruner, keeps spreading the lies about THE Consecration not being done, along with the 3rd and according to them, the 4th, 5th and or the 6th “secrets” not being revealed, but to have others such as yourself, trying to keep these flames of lies burning is absurd, unless, of course, you are being taken in by them yourself. Read Fr. Apostoli’s book “Fatima For Today: The Urgent Marian Message of Hope” and have him come on to your podcast and let’s stop this nonsense once and for all. +JMJ+
Jimmy, I wonder if you are familiar with the book The Secret Still Hidden? The idea that all of the 3rd secret has not been revealed is based on more than just an unfulfilled expectation of what some people “thought” the 3rd secret word contain. After reading the book and taking note of all the evidence provided, including later comments from Pope Benedict XVI, I would be very interested in hearing your comments. It can be read here at this link for free and, makes a very compelling case that the entirety of the 3rd secret has not been revealed, the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary has not been performed properly, and a very charitable explanation as to the possible reasons for these things not to have been done yet.
http://www.secretstillhidden.com/book.html#appendix5
I am a faithful 100 percent loyal Roman Catholic Christian. I get really irritated at USA citizens harping on the Consecration of Russin today when it has been converted since 1929, is re-building the destoryed Cathedrals. MEANTIME, the USA’s federal and some State and other nations’ governments are hell-bent on dismantling the Natural Law. Get a grip and let the actual story and what the Popes did or you presume they did not do. JP11 revealed the Third Secret, brought the bullet that missed his vital organs to Fatima. ST JOHN’s Gospel shows us JESUS being declared as OUR MOTHER and St John as the whole Church aT calvary being dedicated, consecrated. We are dedicated, consecrated to the HOLY TRINITY at baptism, renew that every Easter and at each Mass. DROP the idiocy of the conspiracy theories please.
Friends:
Is there a transcription of this talk by Mr. Akin for those of us who do not have high-speed and cannot listen to it?
Didn’t the Pope succeed in performing the consecration of Russia in 1984? A: No. As Sister Lucy herself declared in a September 1985 interview, the attempted consecration of March 25, 1984, did not satisfy Our Lady’s requests because “there was no participation of the bishops and there was no mention of Russia.” In consecrating the world in general on that date without mentioning Russia, the Holy Father himself acknowledged in the presence of tens of thousands of witnesses, both during and after the ceremony, that the people of Russia were still “awaiting our consecration and confiding.” The next day these statements were reported in the Pope’s own newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, and the Italian Bishops’ publication, Avvenire.
Excuse dropped words Jesus naming MARY as our Mother, then John to represent the whole CHURCH. I see more Russia concern when it does not need it as much as a government-culture as the USA and most of Europe does. Recall that US por-choice leaders are prominent “catholics.” Same for formerly catholic Europe - pro-choice, same gender unions and, as in the USA bankers getting re-paid with tax meney they gambled away in the first place. Get over your 50’s anti-Commie past and jump to the current century and real dangers.
The late Malachi Martin was a Vatican insider who read & understood the 3rd secret before the public knew. Up to his death in 1999, he repeatedly said all the conditions were NOT met, and that is why Russia’s errors (communism) are spreading to the free world today, even the USA & UK. Bishops’ participation is one condition, but Blessed Mother ALSO asked the pope specifically name “Russia.” Instead, he vaguely worded: “to all those awaiting or in need of consecration.” Every pope has feared repercussion from Russia by offending them with specific references to them; but what message does that tell Blessed Mother? They fear man more than God? They don’t trust her? Martin gave this interview around 1998. The gist of it starts at 4:00, and it ties in to the New World Order. You can reject it & accept Akins’ word that the consecration is just fine. But first, ask yourself: if 100% of the conditions were met as Mary requested, has the world moved closer to God? Are we having that time of peace? Is communism over, or is it spreading its errors to the free world? http://www.youtube.com/?watch?v=p7uSiidCQFMhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7uSiidCQFM
And why are we so concerned with these incessant distractions? Is not each person’s salvation based upon the gospel? Salvation is based upon what Christ has revealed (and not) what He has kept “hidden”. What is gained from all the preoccupation with secrets, hidden secrets and unknown mysteries? This kind of focus dishonors the Lord.
Here is what it says on EWTN. Apparently, in 1984 Sr. Lucia said that it was accomplished. http://www.ewtn.com/expert/answers/FatimaConsecration.htm
Inthepew, you have hit the nail squarely on the head! Much wisdom in your post.
This kind of focus dishonors Our Lord especially when His Church has spoken on the subject.
Case closed.
The Blessed Mother said that if her requests were followed Russia would be converted and we would have peace, if not then Russia would spread her errors throughout the world and various nations would be annihilated. Legalized abortion and communism originated in Russia and continue to spread throughout the world. There are less than 300,000 Catholics in Russia. We do not have peace, it seems we are on the verge of WWIII. Why not take one minute and do the consecration again, this time with all the Bishops and consecrating Russia? -WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE AND WORLD PEACE TO GAIN. Why are so many opposed to this simple act? The church approved Akita apparitions also forecast God’s just punishment where fire will fall from the sky and a great number of souls will perish, the good as well as the bad. Why not do the consecration and beg and expect a miracle? Perhaps the Russian Orthodox Church will accept all dogmas of the Catholic church and seek the unity that has evaded us for almost 1000 years. I am not a conspiracy nut, - I have looked at the arguments and find no reason why the consecration should not be done again. God Bless.
Dear Delphina and in the pew, this is not a matter of faith or morals that should not be debated such as contraception or woman priests. There are good arguments on each side of this debate. I am sure there were benefits from the past consecrations, but we do not have peace and Russia is not converted. I do not want to see my family suffer through nuclear war and fallout. I honestly believe that if we follow the Blessed Mother’s request, the whole world will be watching and God will allow the miracle of the conversion of Russia and world peace. Why not do the consecration again? God Bless- Kurt
Not only has Russia not been consecrated, but part of the Third Secret still has not been revealed. We only got part of it, with the vision being released by the Vatican in 2000, but not the words of Our Lady that explains the vision. There is something in the hidden part of Third Secret of Fatima, that the hierarchy in the Vatican are afraid to release, and does not want the public to know.
Here is a free video explaing that part of the Third Secret of Fatima still remains hidden:
http://www.fatimaondemand.org/en/index.php/special-productions/the-secret-still-silenced
And why is this important?
in the pew,
In the Fatima message it is predicted that if God’s will is not done, then various nations will be annihilated. -Do you want to see your family suffering the effects of nuclear radiation and poisoning after world war III? I do not. The third secret apparition even tells of the Pope walking among corpses in a destroyed city. I would love to see world peace and Christian unity. I believe if we obey the Fatima request then God will perform a miracle and bring about what He promised. God Bless you.
@Kurt: You seem to have an obesession with the “mysterious.” If these invented predictions are so important that all of us should know, why are our parish priests not preaching continually about this? Why are the Bishop’s not doing the same? Because few of them give creedence to these made up stories. In fact, this Fatima preoccupation with further mysteries, hidden secrets, more secrets to be revealed at another time to come and all the rest are Satanic distractions to keep you occupied on things other than the person of Christ Himself. Jesus has already told us (directly) not to be anxious for our lives and in Luke 21 to pray (that is to maintain faith) we would escape all these things of the tribulation. So, Kurt, why are you so anxious and worried? This is not our home. We belong to Him and He will take us to be with Him —a place He has already prepared. Jesus said: “Were it not so, I would have told you.” Everything we need to know and be concerned with—Jesus told us in the gospel. He never said there are more hidden things and mysteries to be told—but you’re not going to hear those for another 1,900 years. You need to make a choice which is more vital to believe,—the gospel of Jesus Christ,—or these other “stories” which have zero effect on your personal salvation.
In the pew,
The Fatima message is approved by the Church. 70,000 people were instantly dried after being soaked by downpours of rain the previous night, -even atheists reported this miracle. God punishes for sin,(read your Bible); yes if He justly punishes the world for its sins (war, abortion, idolatry, etc.) then we are only getting what we justly deserve. Why would you oppose a simple consecration that could bring world peace? Are you ashamed that we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary? The way you be-little the role of Our loving Mother trying to save us from punishment, (as well as your referral to the tribulation/ possibly you are a rapture believer, - a false theology condemned by the Church) makes me believe that perhaps you are a luke-warm Catholic or perhaps a non-Catholic. In the pew, -the Blessed Mother loves you and Jesus wants you to have a personal relationship with her, (John ch. 19.26-27). God Bless.
“The Fatima message is approved by the Church”
Lots of things have been approved by the church throughout history…and they ain’t all good.
@Kurt: If the Bible is the inerrant, inspired word of God, I was unaware 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 written by St. Paul was actually condemned. Are there other condemned passages?
I just stumbled onto this blog today, and I have a couple questions for anyone that can respond.
First, is it true the Blessed Mother asked for a chapel to be built in her honor at Fatima? If so, I have a problem with that, because all glory and honor is to go to Christ. Never before has anyone: human being or angel, asked anything in their honor. All recognition goes to Jesus.
Secondly, are we not to expect that many miracles will be done towards the end of life as we know it, just before Jesus comes? I seem to remember somewhere in the New Testament that so many signs & wonders in the heavens & on earth will be done, it may even fool faithful Christians.
Inthepew, the Holy Scriptures are inerrrant, -but your interpretation of them is not. All these (so called) “rapture” verses refer to the return of Jesus- and the final judgement. The left behind theology, and millenialism (an earthly reign of Jesus for 1000 years), and dispensationalism have been condemned by the Church. If you do not love the Blessed Mother, then I encourage you to think of how Jesus feels when people disdain and ridicule His mother. Embarassed Catholic -I love Jesus Christ, the Catholic Church, The Holy Trinity, all the Angels and Saints, and the Blessed Mother of God that I pray to and beg to please help me and all those I know and love to come to Heaven. -kurt
@Kurt: I honor the Blessed Mother as you do. The “interpretation” is St. Paul’s, not mine. Still waiting for your reference that 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-17 has been condemned by the Church.
Inthepew, I never said that I Thess. 4.13-17 was condemned by the Church. I said that rapture theology, millenialism, and dispensationalism, (espoused by the Left Behind series and Baptists) where Christ returns, raptures away believers, punishes world then returns again to set up a 1000 year earthly kingdom, etc. is condemned by the Church. I Thess 4.13-17 refers to the return of Jesus Christ and the catching up of people to stand for the final judgement at the end of this present world. Regarding the Fatima message, -if we can bring about world peace and christian unity through the consecaration of Russia then I think we should do it. Many priests preach the Fatima message, -prayer, penance, the Rosary, the brown scapular, the first 5 Saturday devotions to make amends for those who dishonor the Blessed Mother, etc. Do you pray the Rosary and wear the scapular? Have you made the first 5 Saturday devotions? Are you Catholic? (dk852268"at"yahoo"dot"com)
@Kurt: Still waiting for you to actually “cite” the source in Catholic teaching this writing of Paul is condemned. Whether I pray the Rosary is not the issue, but I have attended mass for 9 consecutive First Friday’s to ensure I will not die without the presence of a priest. Your advocacy of the Fatima message ushering in world peace is false since the Scriptures tell us there will never be world peace.
Inthepew, that’s great that you have made communions of reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the first Fridays based on the Church approved apparitions of Jesus to St Mary Alocoque- the 16th century nun. I hope one day you will embrace the Church approved Fatima message and the Blessed Mother’s requests and practices. If you do not understand my posts regarding the rapture that’s ok, -this will be my last post regarding the rapture; I did not say the writings of St Paul are condemned, -for the third time I SAID THAT THE PROTESTANT THEOLOGY OF MILLENIALISM, THE RAPTURE AS SEPARATE FROM THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE FINAL JUDGEMENT, AND DISPENSATIONALISM ARE CONDEMNED BY THE CHURCH, you can simply google “Catholic teaching on rapture/ return of Christ”. Please pray for me and I am sorry if I have seemed uncharitable. God Bless you. -Kurt
PS -Jesus wants the world to see the truths of the Catholic Church, this is why He will bring about peace if we honor the requests of St.Mary at Fatima. Jesus wants us to love and honor His and our Mother. It does not take away from our love of Jesus if we love and honor the Blessed Mother. On the other hand how will Jesus feel if in Heaven someone puts up their hand in St. Mary’s face and says, “don’t talk to me, -you take away from the honor due to God”?
My questions have not yet been answered - I posted them on Friday, so it may have slipped by everyone-
I’ll repeat it here, and will be appreciative if someone can answer:
1- Is it true the Blessed Mother asked for a chapel to be built in her honor at Fatima? and
2- Are we not to expect that many miracles will be done towards the end of life as we know it, just before Jesus comes? and I’ll add a third:
3- Do all miracles come from God, or can an evil spirit mimic what is done by God?—Such as when Moses did miracles for Pharoah, & Pharoah’s magicians reproduced some of them.
***************************************
Regarding the nine consecutive First Fridays that will ensure having a priest present at the time of death: it seems superstitious to me. God wants us to be mindful of Him 24/7, not just on nine First Fridays. I don’t think the nine First Fridays are even in the Catechism, and most certainly, that is not in the Sacred Scriptures.
Hellooooo-oooo? Anybody home? Can someone please answer my questions?
Anyone, please?
Wow, just stumbled across this blog. This whole comment thread is truly, utterly, terrifyingly bonkers. This is the kind of irrational, dogmatic and naive thought that has hastened the decline of the church. Arguing about the accuracy of the ravings of illiterate Portuguese children 100 years ago? Can an evil spirit mimic God? “I attended 9 consecutive first Fridays to ensure I will not die without the presence of a priest”? Really? There’s an election this year and there are bigger issues to debate. Take off your tinfoil hats and stop talking like this is the early 19th century.
Hi Terah, Sorry so long for response. I don’t know if you are Catholic? We are supposed to honor our parents. This is a commandment, it doesn’t take away from God’s honor when we honor our parents, it shows our love for God by keeping His commands. If you are married, and you love and are kind to your husband’s mom this shows your love for your husband, -it doesn’t take away from your honor to him. Catholics honor St. Mary and all the heavenly Saints, Patriarchs, and hosts. We know they are created by God; we do not worship them as Gods. Mary is our spiritual mother, see St John chapter 19 as Jesus dies on the cross. There was noone closer to Jesus than His Mother. She was truly the Mother of God, (Jesus existed for all eternity as God the Son until He took human flesh to die for our sins.) Jesus was obedient to her, she was present at His crcifixion and burial. She walked hundreds of miles with St Joseph to flee Herod in the winter with no accomodations. Jesus loves His Mother and He wants us to love and honor her also. Do you think it makes Him pleased when people hate the Blessed Mother? She can help you. Pray to her. Yes demons can deceive, -which is why we have to look at all things through the teachings of the Church. God Bless -Kurt
Terah, We also honor people with states and cities named after them, (Washington state, Lincoln, Nebraska). We have their picture on money and even make statues of them, -the Lincoln memorial, Mt Rushmore, a statue was recently made of Martin Luther King Jr. Why is it wrong to honor Moses, or David, or St Paul, or the Blessed Mother with statues or Church’s built in their honor? We do not worship them, -we honor them as our our forefathers in the faith. We ask them to pray for us and help us through this world of sorrow and temptation to come to Heaven.
Grim if you are not religious or do not believe in the after-life these teachings and conversations would not make sense to you. I do not believe we are onlyhighly evolved animals with no eternal spirit. Yes politically I vote Republican because I believe abortion is murder. Our country is also 16 trillion dollars in debt and the President continues to spend money that we do not have, refusing to try to balance the budget. I hope we can turn the country around financially, but even more I hope our country turns back to God so that He does not punish us as we deserve.
Terah, regarding the first friday devotions in honor to the Sacred Heart of Jesus: these are not in the Catechism but are approved by the Church based on messages given to St Margaret Mary Alocoque, a Spanish nun in the 16th century. Basically Jesus complained to her that His heart burns for the love of souls, yet it is pierced by the indifference, ingratitude, and sins of men, especially those who know Him. This is why when we see the Sacred Heart it has a flame, but it is surrounded by and pierced by thorns. Think of how Jesus feels when He looks down upon us and the world, -war, abortion, hatred, even Catholics voting for and promoting abortion. He is not pleased. He made some promises to those who would make amends to His heart, by going to Communion and confession for the first 9 Fridays of 9 consecutive months. Sometimes in our lives we are very close to God. If we are smart we remain close to Him, -but sometimes we stop following Him and His commands; we may stop going to Mass, and start living the wrong way, -hopefully we come back to Him and to confession, and die in His love. Why not make the first 9 fridays devotion as a sacrifice to show Jesus how much you love Him? He also promised special graces and favors to those who make these devotions, as Inthepew mentioned some, but He also promised to help those we pray for, you can google, -the First Friday devotions and promises of Sacred Heart devotions. -Anything extra we do for God or others we will be so happy on judgement day, while all our stupid sins we will be ashamed of, -why not do more for God, -visit the sick and in jail, clothe/feed the hungry; pray for others, try to share the faith, pray the Rosary, try to teach why abortion is wrong, go to extra Masses, for others, pray for the dead, etc. PS- I am not a Saint, -please pray for me and my family, (and our country) -thank you. kurt
Kurt, thanks for taking the time to respond. I do believe in the after-life and in the Communion of Saints too. But I also believe only children are to honor their parents by obeying them. When Jesus was under Mary and Joseph’s roof, He obeyed them too. But when we all grow up, our first allegiance is not to mom and dad anymore, but to our spouses.
Mom and dad are always honored, but the cord is severed, and obedience ends, by adulthood. The key relationship in everyone’s life is Jesus. He must be first. It’s written in Scripture that Jesus is our Advocate with the Father, and it is Jesus that sits at God the Father’s right hand.
The Blessed Mother is neither our spiritual mother, or the spiritual mother of anyone else. Mary is Jesus’ real mother, when the Word was made Flesh. She played a very important role in the Incarnation, and in our salvation. But it is a mistake for Catholics to continue to refer to Jesus as “Baby Jesus” and Mary, as His superior.
It will be a rude awakening, when Jesus comes again, and He comes in full glory - alone, with the hosts of angels around Him, that give Him glory. Every knee will bend and every head will bow, to Jesus.
It is not “hating” Mary, to put her role in the Incarnation into its proper perspective. All generations will call her blessed - no Christian would dispute that. But it is a grievious error to put Mary on a pedestal, while demoting Jesus to an obedient child.
For the record, re: your point to Grim - I vote Republican too, because I believe abortion is murder (infanticide), and in the last 40 years since abortion has been legal, with the 50 million babies that have been aborted, it caused a loss of something like $80 trillion dollars in Social Security—Im using my memory on that figure. But it’s a lot.
Most of the abortions are done on healthy women bearing healthy babies too. It’s awful - ought not to be, by anyone’s standards.
Hi Terah,
Please don’t be offended but it seems you may have been influenced by non-Catholic teaching concerning the Blessed Mother. Please read John chapter 19, as Jesus dies on the cross, He gives Mary to us as our mother, He says to Mary, -Woman behold your son, and to St John son behold thy mother. Why did Jesus call her “woman”?, (notice He calls her the same at the wedding feast of Caana) In the book of Genesis God curses the devil/serpent, -I will put emnity between you and the woman, between thy seed and her seed….referring to Mary and Jesus. Also in the book of Revelation chapter 12 -a “woman” clothed with the sun, who gave birth to a man child who will rule all nations (Jesus). Please also see catechism 967-975 Mary is our Mother in order of grace, 973-“she is mother wherever He is Savior and head of the mystical body”. Terah -there will be different rewards and levels of reward in Heaven. St John the Baptist, St Joseph, martyrs, the apostles will have a higher degree of reward in Heaven, -justly so, but nobody will be higher than God’s special creation the Blessed Virgin Mary. Please see these verses in the Bible and catechism. Jesus wants you to love and have a personal relationship with His mother. If you have someone you have been praying for, or need a miracle, I encourage you to bring this request to Mary. Simply ask her to please pray for the cause and show her love to you, -maybe pray a decade of Rosary. There is nothing Jesus will not do for His Mother, -she intercedes with Jesus for us in Heaven. If anybody thinks that their prayers are as efficacious with Jesus Christ as the prayers of the the Blessed Mother really needs to reflect on Jesus’ love for His mother. Also God created and is outside of time, He entered time but is not restricted by it as we are, but i’m running out of time and dont want to lose post, -so bye and God Bless
I was thinking about this blog last night, and how it’s considered
“hating” Mary, to put her role in salvific history into its proper perspective, seen by some Catholics to be disrespectful to Jesus’ mother.
While we all know we do not *worship* Mary, we merely *honor* her, please consider this - when Jesus is relegated to an infant in Joseph or Mary’s arms, or as a teenage Son still taking orders from Mary, is that “hating” God? I know it sounds like a stretch, and it’s not the intention of anyone to do that. But the rule would most certainly apply. Right?
Last night, I was thinking that with all the attention given to Mary, the focus is OFF of the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the focus is solely on Mary.
It seems to me, to be disrespectful of our Creator and our Savior, and to our Advocate and Comforter, the Spirit. Just asking. Please give it some thought? Thank you, in advance.
@Kurt: You wrote “Mary is our spiritual mother” ——and at the cross: “He gives Mary to us as our mother, He says to Mary, -Woman behold your son, and to St John son behold thy mother.” Kurt, I see you as a sincere man. I really do. But equality of belief should be afforded those who view Jesus was entrusting Mary’s care (as mother) to *John* and not to the whole world to be our mother. It is neither dishonoring nor disrespectful to hold this position. The Vatican has been teaching this “our Mother” and Co-redemtrix theology for so long that most every Catholic just assumes this is true. It is important to give Mary, the Patriarchs and Prophets of the Lord all they are due since each has their proper role in salvation history. Still, it is only by Christ we are saved (and not through, with or by Mary). She is not “up there” influencing her Son (on our behalf). She is not seated next to the throne of God as a sub member of the Trinity. You will find no evidence to support all this Mary hoopla except in the writings of Catholic opinion.
Hi Terah, Please don’t think I was referring to you as hating Mary simply because you do not see her intercessory and maternal role. -but there are many evangelicals who hate the Catholic teaching of Mary because they think it takes away from Jesus, they hate the Catholic faith and try to get Catholics to leave the Church. Mary did cooperate with bringing God into the world, she now intercedes for us, -again I challenge you to bring a request to her and ask her to please pray for your cause, (what do you have to lose?). Terah-Jesus does not say to St John, -please take care of my mother,, -He says behold YOUR mother. Again see Catechism, -this is the Catholic faith. Also, if you were in Heaven would you not be praying for your loved ones?-especially those who may be on a path to hell?-of course, simply because we end our earthly lives does not mean that we stop loving and praying for our beloved. -we are still part of the Body of Christ. Terah Pope John Paul has one miracle answered in his name because a nun asked him to pray for a sister nun with Parkinson’s disease and she was healed. With one more miracle through John Paul’s prayers and he will be canonized a Saint. -this is how the Church canonizes Saints, -when documented, unexplainable, irreversible healings and miracles are answered through their prayers. Some Saints have had literally thousands of miracles granted through their intercession -BECAUSE GOD IS GLORIFIED THROUGH HIS SAINTS. These Saints have no attatchment to sin or concupiscience of the flesh like us stuck here, they have attained Heaven, they are closer to God than us and their pryers are powerful. When a baby is brought back to life, or a bleeding stomach ulcer, or cancer is miraculously answered through perhaps St Mother Theresa’s prayers this shows the world that she is in heaven praying for us and attests to the faith ans God who she lived for. PS-do you know the motto of Pope John Paul’s Papacy? “Totus Tuus”, can you take a guess what it meant, and whom he meant? -I’ll let you google it, bye Terah and anyone reading this please pray for me and my intentions.
Terah, we will all be full of God’s love in Heaven, -but some will have larger cups, -especially the martyrs, apostles, and Saints who tried their best to do God’s will on earth. (Another analogy is that we will all shine like the stars, -but some will be brighter). Some deserve to be closer to God in Heaven. Look at St John Vianney who ate one bowl of boiled potatoes a day for years to fast and pray for the salvation of souls; or St Thomas Aquinas, who never thought an impure thought his entire life, or Mother Theresa, or St Gemma Galgani who bore the stigmata and would literally throw herself into open pools of water when she was tempted by impure thoughts, or Isaac Jogues whose fingers were literally eaten off his hands by The Indians He was trying to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Yes they will be closer to God and deserve this reward, and their prayers are more powerful than most of us on earth. Again, Mary was created, but she was God’s most favoured creation, and she was assumed into Heaven, (Rev. Ch12) and now prays for us in heaven. She is not part of the Trinity but there is nobody closer to Jesus than her. Hopefully, if I come to Heaven I will tell the Blessed Mother I love her and thank her and all the Saints who have prayed for me and my beloved. This will not make Jesus upset. Good night.
SOrry,2 posts ago was in reply to Inthepew and Terah.
Kurt- I’ve read your post mentioning all the self-induced suffering attributed to people in the past. Are you saying we can work our way into Heaven? If so, is this what you’re taught by your parish priests?
Terah, -Nobody can come to Heaven without God’s grace and help; but we cooperate in our salvation through our free will and actions, (which can help us to either remain in God’s love, or cause us to lose God’s grace and cause us to condemn ourselves to Hell by choosing to live in sin rather than God’s love). God will reward those who live in obedience and love to Him. God is just and will give a greater reward to those who merit it; who do God’s will, who live their entire lives without sin, who have fasted and buffeted their flesh to avoid sin, and pray and help in salvation of souls and material welfare of others. The more obedient, and unselfish, and loving one has been here, the greater will be their reward in Heaven, -justly so.
PS-Our honor of our parents should never end; we are to care for them to the best of our abilities here on earth.
Yes Russia is Consecrated The Fatima Consecration Chronology!
In regards to Fr. Gruener the Church has suspended Fr. Nicholas Gruener from his priestly faculties and as far as I am aware this suspension has not been revoked. Gruner’s example of disobedience to legitimate ecclesiastical authority, or Sr. Lucia’s heroic example of obedience to the Church during a difficult time in Church history. http://speramus-hope.blogspot.com/2010/03/anniversary-of-collegial-consecration.html
Russia has not been Consecrated according to the request of Our Most Blessed Mother. Proof: The errors and the evils of communism are continually spreading.
