FAMILYLAND TV “There is a terrible hunger for love. ... The poor you may have right in your own family. Find them. Love them,” said Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who died at age 87 on this date in 1997. Tune in at 2 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for shows about her, the Missionaries of Charity and “Christ in distressing disguise,” as she called those she and her sisters love, serve and sanctify.

An Ice Cream Show

PBS In this hour-long documentary, Rick Sebak travels around the country from Florida to California to Hawaii. He visits ice cream makers, shops, customers and even university labs to showcase ice cream’s place in American life. A re-air from 1996.

Notre Dame Football

NBC The San Diego State Aztecs challenge the Fighting Irish in Notre Dame’s season- and home-opener. Both teams were 3-9 last season and plan on bouncing back strong. Quarterback Jimmy Clausen will lead the Irish, and Ryan Lindley is likely to be the Aztec’s signal-caller.
