Don't Play the Planned Parenthood Drinking Game During the Debates

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 9:08 AM Comments (39)

Wonder if the media fact-checkers will get this one out there. Uhm. Something tells me there's as much chance of that as margaritas in Hell. So let's break it down.

During the debate last night, President Obama defended Planned Parenthood. As usual. But why? Did a woman ask about the HHS mandate? No. Did a young woman ask about her right to tear apart her baby limb from limb if "it" might interfere with her active night life? Nope. Was Sandra Fluke there? No. Obama brought up Planned Parenthood because a woman asked about pay equity, of course.

Seriously, what is it with this guy? He's like a wind-up toy with pre-set responses. If "women's issues" come up, Obama immediately starts chatting up Planned Parenthood as if women were just lady parts that vote.

You see, to Obama, babies are the problem. If you don't make enough money you're clearly being punished by a baby. And he knows just the right folks to help you out with that.

But to make it worse, Obama actually lied about Planned Parenthood. Wait, he didn't just lie. Obama elbow-slammed truth, chloroformed it, and drop kicked it Shatner style onto the floor where Candy Crowley could ignore it and step over it on the way to receiving adulation from her reporter buddies.

He claimed that women depend on the abortion giant for mammograms. That's a lie. Here's the transcript in case you don't believe me:

When Governor Romney says that we should eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood, there are millions of women all across the country, who rely on Planned Parenthood for, not just contraceptive care, they rely on it for mammograms, for cervical cancer screenings. That’s a pocketbook issue for women and families all across the country. And it makes a difference in terms of how well and effectively women are able to work. When we talk about child care, and the credits that we’re providing. That makes a difference in whether they can go out there and — and earn a living for their family.

These are not just women’s issues. These are family issues. These are economic issues.

And one of the things that makes us grow as an economy is when everybody participates and women are getting the same fair deal as men are.

And I’ve got two daughters and I want to make sure that they have the same opportunities that anybody’s sons have.

Is anyone else creeped out that President Obama talks about Planned Parenthood, child care, and his daughters in the same paragraph? Or is it just me?

But then again, this is the man who advocated the death of his own grandchild when he said he didn't want his daughter "punished with a baby."

A Planned Parenthood spokesperson even admitted they don't perform mammograms in the Washington Post after Lila Rose and the Live Action gang completely depantsed them publicly with undercover audiotapes. He admitted, "we refer our patients to other facilities for mammograms when indicated based on a breast exam, age or family history."

Heck, I could do that. Where's my federal funding?

There was only one boob getting x-rayed last night and it was the President. Actually you didn't need an x-ray, he was completely transparent. I looked into Obama's soul last night and I saw dumpsters of dead babies.

Obama mentioned Planned Parenthood five times during the debate last night. Five times. And there was not one single question about Planned Parenthood. Nobody else was talking about them. Gee, you think Obama's constant repetition of Planned Parenthood has anything to do with the fact that Gallup shows him tanking with women? Hey, you ever think that maybe one of the reasons he's tanking with women is that when women ask him about things like jobs, he raves on and on about contraception and abortion.

If you were playing a drinking game where you had to drink every time Obama mentioned Planned Parenthood, you'd have been arrested last night.

The thing is, President Obama knows this is a lie or he is so incredibly incompetent that he's demanding funding for all the wrong reasons. But in truth, we all know that he wants federal funds to continue going to Planned Parenthood for two reasons. Abortions and freeing up money that they can donate to the Democrat Party to keep abortion legal.

Pretty much everything about Mr Obama creeps me out, not just his love affair with Planned Parenthood.
It’s ironic that P.P. scores PR points for offering women cervical exams. The devices, hormonal contraceptives, & lifestyle they promote are what increase cervical cancer & other STD’s in the first place.Basically, they create their own business spreading STD’s & then receive credit for detecting it.
As they say:“Women deserve better.”

As a twenty-something single, working woman who hopes to have a family and career, may I point out the stupidity of the President’s statement that free birth control means “women are getting the same fair deal as men are.” Actually, NO, free contraception does not do that. Men’s fair deal is that they can have a career AND children. Contraception = no children. And why aren’t any other true liberals creeped out by the notion that a government decided to mandate free coverage of reproductive inhibitors? I don’t recall widespread screeds or demonstrations for free contraception. But now all people can do is laud a reduction of births. I am concerned that my choice to have children will not be supported.

Proverbial Girlfriend, Amen!

Both Romney and Obama went to tangential talking points.  Both have their stump speeches that had thin connection to the original question.

If you bring up Obama’s Planned Parenthood segue from pay equity for women then it’s only fair to mention that Romney had as strange of a connection between gun violence and single parents.

How the heck do you go from gun violence to attacking single parents?!  I guess he can live in his 50s montage of life in America and attack single parents on gun violence.  Easy to have a scapegoat class (probably all part of the 47% that he doesn’t care a flying whoop for).  That’s a bunch of stuff.  With all due respect, Mr. Governor, but that’s a bunch of malarkey.

Obama might have had thin connection to the original question but Romney caused the blood to boil in the single parent population with his crazy accusations.

Speaking of tangential points, here comes Midwest Zach to rescue Obama with a non sequiter. Don’t take the bait, folks.

Midwest Zach,
I missed part of the debate & wasn’t aware Mr Romney had made connections to single parent families & gun violence. But actually, I wouldn’t think that connection was without merit.
I’ve raised 8 kids mostly by myself & deeply feel for other single moms out there, but I also know that gangs thrive in neighborhoods where intact families with fathers in the home are few to none.
So, even if Mr Romney did say something like that, my blood wouldn’t boil. It’s just a sad fact of life that I’ve seen played out in my own community & among kids in my children’s schools.Because I fit into the single parent category doesn’t mean I’m selectively blind to those realities in society.

Oh I LOVE this article!!!
Love love love.
.
There was only one boob getting xrayed….  har…
.
Great job.

Really, Midwest Zach? You don’t think parental presence has an effect on gang membership or violent behaviors? Certainly, this isn’t always the case, but poverty does beget joining a gang, which easily stems from single parents. It sounds crazy, but it doesn’t make it false. Two parent families are less likely to be impoverished than single parent families, and as is obvious, a two parent family is more likely to be able to provide the supervision necessary to keep their children out of gangs. Does that solve all gun issues? Maybe not, but it certainly lessens them.

Matt Archbold gets it! Thanks for speaking out for all us women.

I’m totally stealing your ‘margaritas in hell’ line.  Hahaha!  And yes…Obama’s comments about his daughters creep me out.

This is a true story. My husband is an attorney and he had to defend a young man accused of murder, however, the evidences point to his younger brother as the murderer (gunning someone down).  These boys do not have a father in their home.  If they had, I believe 100% that this murder would not take place.  Yes, society would be better off if there are two parents in the home.

Love the column!

I didn’t watch the debate. . . but I’ve been creeped out by Barack Obama’s weird love-affair/entanglement with Planned Parenthood.

It IS creepy. How normal is this?

This may seem like a small thing in the shadow of the big issue, but I don’t get the Shatner reference. The only Shatner I know is William Shatner of Star Trek fame. So, what’s with “drop-kicked it Shatner style?”

What disappointed me during last night’s debate was the questions from the undecided voters.  Why do they think that their problems, mostly “material issues” can be solved by the president and the government. Aren’t any of them concerned about the moral state of our nation?

The middle income families seem to be the focus of this election’s campaign.  In my opinion, if middle income families live below their means, opt for simpler homes and own less than 2 cars (and please let’s take care of our own aging parents and family members who are disabled, seriously ill or with mental issues), then the government can concentrate on keeping our nation secure and provide for the truly poor.

That’s the problem when we allow the entertainment industry influence our values (Hollywood, Oprah, Sports, Mass Media - sadly news personalities have lowered themselves to mere entertainers instead of purveyors of truth).  Slowly but surely our society embraces the culture of death, consumerism and immorality without knowing it.  The entertainment sector insult us by thinking we all want to be “nice”, look “nice” and bedecked with “nice things”.  Their job is to entertain.  Period.  We should not imitate them.  We should imitate Christ.

What would I ask President Obama?

“Mr. President, you say you’re a Christian.  Therefore you believe that your power as the President of the United States comes from above, as Jesus revealed to Pontius Pilate.  If you believe your power came from God, then you are accountable for the thousands of unborn lives sacrificed under your watch.  How are you going to address this when you go before the Lord on Judgment Day?

I hope the Romney Team is reading the comments here, as well as the above story.  If the press won’t confront Obama, maybe Romney will be able to use the comments here to let the American people on what most here already know.

Wait, wait, wait!  No Margaritas in Hell?????  Why isn’t Obama doing something about that?  I would think he’d have a lot of pull there.

A wonderful question Anna!
Why do we have to tread lightly when it comes to the abortion question?
Why isn’t Romney talking about religious freedom?
Really Pres. Obama…..we need Planned Parenthood in order to right our economy??? What?

I only wish that Rick Santorum was able to coach our candidates to delve deep into the real questions.
Why are our families suffering so?  Talk about the circle of poverty.  Broken homes, broken families and then no support net for struggling young people entering into a relationship without a husband/wife, starting families without understanding how God has designed the gift of human sexuality.  Why is there a real de-valuing of life throughout our culture?  Do you suppose that the taking of innocent, human life has any connection what-so-ever????  Is that such a reach that one can’t see the connection.  Try teaching a 10 year old what the word “abortion” means.  They are rightfully and naturally repulsed by the act.  Why wouldn’t they be?

@Robert:  I think the reference is to Kirk’s “fighting style” in Star Trek.

He’s a one-term President. He’s done nothing during his first term except be a professional politician. He can’t even do that right even when he gets scripted help from the moderator in a debate. It’s so obvious that he’s just trying to fool people for a couple more months—with the help of the mainstream media. Fortunately, though, people are finally seeing through him and his administration. The same ones that made a difference for Reagan—Conservative-to-moderate Democtats and Independent voters. Romney will win in a landslide.

If I were Romney’s campaign manager, I would’ve told him to say: “Mr. President, if you are REALLY concerned about women’s health and want women to have free access to drugs that prevent disease and promote REAL health, how about taxpayer-funded BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEART PILLS FOR WOMEN, BECAUSE HEART DISEASE IS THE #1 KILLER OF WOMEN IN THE U.S.!

Contraception is NOT health care—it’s in no way remotely “preventative health care”: it’s cancer-causing, baby killing, heart-disease-causing POISON!!!!!

Obama keeps bringing up Planned Parenthood because they are funneling so much money to him.  Here in Chicago, Jesse Jackson was anti-abortion, pro-life, etc., condemning it rightly as part of the genocide against black Americans.  Until Planned Parenthood started funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to him.  Now, they can do no wrong.  \
Unfortunately, I am very much afraid that where this trajectory of contraception, abortion, Planned Parenthood, etc., is taking the American people is first that a woman should be able to control her own body. Then, that abortion should be “safe, legal and rare.”  Then, that it should be available for all 9 months of pregnancy.  Then, at taxpayer expense.  Then, that contraception & abortion are not going to be voluntary, they are going to be mandatory, as in Communist China, where your local committee decides who gets to get pregnant and you actually are granted licenses to become pregnant.  If you do so “out of plan,” you are tracked down & forcibly aborted.
If you think I’m making this up, please come to he south and southwest sides of Chicago (and adjacent suburban areas) and listen to the people (and Catholicl priests) down here.  They are so pro-Obama (and culture of eath, and anti-Eucharistic adoration), it makes my head spin.

STUPID ARTICLE!  Women should ALL have a choice and not be dictated to by a CHURCH and especially NOT MEN!  We all have been given free choice by GOD and even the church should respect that and stay the H(*( out of women’s choices, for themselves and their families!  It’s NOT their’s or YOUR BUSINESS!

Free contraception and abortions are not healthcare. Altering something because it works correctly is not healthcare. Healthcare would be free insulin, free Pap smears, free prostate exams and mammograms. Men and women should both get free preventative care screens. I am not sure who is fooled by calling any of this healthcare, but its so obvious the agenda is population control. Not sure why, but there seems to be a global push to spread contraception a nd abortion to the world. Especially developing nations. Wouldn’t developing nations rather have healthcare too. Like clean water and medicine.

Oh, and Obama is not a very good president. I’m not impressed with the last four years and will not be voting for him.

This is my first time to this site and I noticed the ads stating, “Need help defending the faith?”  Please someone out there register V.P. Biden on this site to help him defend the Catholic faith.  Is he a cafeteria Catholic, who picks and chooses crumbs of doctrine that he will follow?  If this is truly a Catholic site, how do you tolerate his “watered-down” faith?? This is the very reason that I left the Catholic Church. Walk the Talk people. If you don’t believe in the Catholic faith, don’t pretend to be Catholic. Maybe we could have the pope (or the priests in S/SW Chicago) designate a sub-culture of “Cafeteria Catholics”. I am sure that God would understand:) Have some substance people.  Have the backbone to vote PRO- life and stick to the Catholic doctrine or quit pretending to be Catholic!

Kim Thibodeaux ,
I’m missing how leaving the Church solves the problem of cafeteria Catholics like Mr Biden?

Leaving the Church doesn’t solve the problem of cafeteria Catholics.Being a “cafeteria Catholic” or Christian is a Holy Spirit issue. Should you consider yourself a devote Catholic, like Mr. Biden, if you support abortion? In my opinion,  Catholics who support abortion and support like minded politicians are not being true to themselves or the faith. Can’t have it both ways. My point is to stop pretending. If you don’t totally agree with the Catholic Church then find a Church that embraces your beliefs.

Kim,
I agree with you that Catholics who act like Mr Biden are acting in ways that clash with Church teaching.I don’t want to see them leave the Church Christ founded, though.I’d rather see their church leaders instruct them appropriately & lead them to the truth. And if they remain within the Church, there is at least that hope. And the grace giving sacraments.

Obama and Biden hate children.

@Lynn—Yes, we have been granted free will by God.  However, God also commands us to bear the consequences of our actions (either in this word or the next).  The chief consequence of sexual activity is the conception of children, whose lives which are not ours to dispose of as we see fit.  You would find the murder of an infant an evil act, yes?  Abortion destroys an innocent life, which is the height of injustice.  Sadly, in our deluded society, your approach is the preferred option.

Rob B.,
Women have the ability to make good or bad choices.Unborn children have no choice & no voice until society can act/legislate in their behalf.
I agree children are not our’s to dispose of as we see fit, but the heavier burden of the “consequence” of sexual activity falls on women to bear.

Lynn, we have laws on the books that limit our “free choice” all the time (and rightly so).  I have the freedom to choose to swing my arm, but that freedom ends at my neighbor’s nose.

You don’t hear people saying, “well you know a man should have a choice—he should be allowed to make the choice on whether or not to hit his wife.  Personally, I don’t believe in men hitting their spouses, but I also dont’ think we should have laws on the books that prevent men from choosing what to do in this situation.  Besides, what goes on in the bedroom is not the concern of the government.  In fact, if we outlaw spousal abuse, men are just going to take their wives to a back alley and beat them there.”

Sounds ludicrous, right?

@Kathleen—You said, “I agree children are not our’s to dispose of as we see fit, but the heavier burden of the “consequence” of sexual activity falls on women to bear.”  Have you ever considered that perhaps that’s why both men and women should wait until marriage to engage in sexual activity?  That way, the “burden” becomes a blessing?

Rob B,
Children are always a blessing, but obviously the bearing falls physically upon women, in or out of marriage. And sadly, marriage these days is an uncertain & sometimes thing.

@Kathleen—So, does that mean that women should have carte blanche to kill children in their womb?  I’m sorry, but I’m just not seeing what you are objecting to here.

Rob,
I’m kind of pointing out, as a woman & mom of 8, that men need to use discernment when speaking of the “consequences” of sex. Those consequences-both good & bad-largely fall upon women.
I’m completely prolife, no exceptions, but I cringe sometimes when I hear menfolk talk about matters that physically impact women in such lifechanging ways.
I understand you mean well,& I apologize if I sound like I’m picking on you, but we need to take care when responding to women coming from painful experiences & differing convictions. They may be hearing words through a filter of pain & mistrust.

@Kathleen—Ahhh, I see.  As a father of five myself (one foster, three adopted, one in utero), I see your point about discernment.  However, as the father of several miscarried children, I think that men have an equal share in the consequences of which we were speaking.  The fact that many men do not carry their share of the burden does not change that.
.
I also think that far too many people (including Lynn above) think that because men do not carry children that they should have no voice at all in the abortion debate.  That’s like saying that because the majority of users of pornography are men, that women should have no voice in that moral issue.

Dear Rob,
I agree that men & women should each have a voice on moral issues. We’re all human beings & have to answer to the same Maker.
I’m sure you & I are on the same page regarding the sanctity of life.
Congratulations on your family & expected baby!
God bless.

I suppose we should be grateful that Planned Parenthood was able to bully Komen to reinstate their grant money earlier this year… the money is so well spent on all the (very expensive) PP ads running alongside campaign ads on TV every flippin’ commercial break.
.
Makes me change the channel every time… I hate their propaganda.

It’s important to VOTE!  PRESIDENT OBAMA’S record was rated 0% by the National Right To Life Committee, indicating a PRO-CHOICE RECORD.  In addition (from the pro-choicers), President Obama’s record was rated 100% by NARAL on PRO-CHOICE issues.
