Surprisingly, I can’t find anything at the website of Catholic News Service about yesterday’s installation of the new archbishop of New Orleans, Gregory Aymond.

The Daily Blog wants to draw attention to the event anyway. So here’s a link to coverage in New Orleans’ The Times-Picayune today about the installation of a native son of the Big Easy to this important position in the hierarchy of the Church in America.

Church watcher extraordinaire Rocco Palmo has also posted a pair of entries this week related to the new archbishop, here and here at his Whispers in the Loggia blog.

Palestinian Christians celebrate Easter Sunday Mass at Holy Family Church in Gaza City on March 31, amid the ongoing battles Israel and the Hamas militant group.

People Explain ‘Why I Go to Mass’

‘Why go to Mass on Sundays? It is not enough to answer that it is a precept of the Church. … We Christians need to participate in Sunday Mass because only with the grace of Jesus, with his living presence in us and among us, can we put into practice his commandment, and thus be his credible witnesses.’ —Pope Francis
