Office Admin/Bookkeeper
St. Thomas More Catholic Newman Center - Mankato, MN
The Office Admin/Bookkeeper reports directly to the Pastor. This position has a variety of responsibilities related to the handling of the organizational, operational, and financial tasks of the St. Thomas More Newman Center. The Office Admin/Bookkeeper will work closely with the Ministry and Development departments and act as the liaison between vendors, the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, and the Newman Center.
Duties/Responsibilities include:
Office Management: This includes everything from managing phones and calendars to working with vendors, ordering supplies, taking meeting minutes, and filing appropriate Diocesan Reports. Tracks and handles all contracts and subscriptions.
Finance: Office Admin/Bookkeeper is responsible for creating yearly budget, overseeing bank accounts, organizing quarterly finance council meetings, and preparing appropriate financial documents (i.e. Payroll, Accounts Payable, Invoices, Tax reports, Bank rec, weekly deposits etc...).
Human Resources: Handles all hire/termination paperwork for Federal, State, and Diocese and tracks/manages timesheets, and PTO requests. Acts as benefits and Safe Environment coordinator for this parish.
Liturgical: Manages Mass intention calendar, altar linen cleaning schedule, sacristy inventory, Sacramental register and prepares appropriate certificates for every person receiving Sacraments at the St. Thomas More Newman Center.
Qualifications:
- Must be a practicing Catholic and possess an appreciation for the overall mission of Catholic Campus Ministry
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field or 2+ years in a similar position preferred
- This position requires both management and supervisory skills

- Pleasant and helpful demeanor; geared towards customer service
- Appropriate computer skills (with a proficiency in Microsoft Office)
- Ideal candidate would have working knowledge of ParishSoft accounting software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required
- Team oriented, with the ability to work independently
- Highly organized: derives joy from completing tasks efficiently
- Excellent time management: efficiently prioritizes and multitasks
- Possesses an elevated level of discretion and confidentiality
- Knowledge of basic laws that apply to businesses
