Catholic Writers Unite!

When the Catholic Marketing Network convenes in King of Prussia, PA on August 3-5, a concurrent gathering of Catholic writers will be taking place, as well. The good news is that there’s still space available for those interested in attending.

The third annual Catholic Writers’ Conference Live is taking place at the Scanticon Hotel Valley Forge, sponsored by the Catholic Writer’s Guild, whose mission is to create a rebirth of Catholic arts and letters. The conference will provide Catholic authors with the opportunity to meet and share their ideas and faith with editors, publishers, fellow writers, and bookstore owners.

The conference will feature over 30 sessions taught by professionals in writing, marketing, blogging, and publishing, as well as pitch sessions where writers can meet privately with representatives from four publishers (myself included).

“Our conference allows you to connect personally with Catholic publishers and retailers, to show your work, learn the craft, and network,” said Ann Lewis, CWG president. “Our conferences are totally focused on encouraging faithful Catholics to share genuine Catholic culture and faith in their writing no matter what genre.”

Some of this year’s speakers will include Claudia Volkman, representative for Servant Books/St. Anthony Messenger Press; Regina Doman, author and acquisitions editor for Sophia Institute Press; and Donna-Marie Cooper O’Boyle, EWTN TV host of “Everyday Blessings for Catholic Moms.”

Also at this year’s conference, the CWG will be presenting its first ever Catholic Arts and Letters Awards (called the “Lilies”) for the best adult and children’s Catholic fiction.

The Catholic Writers Guild sponsors this live conference each August as well as an online conference every February. Registration for the conference is $90 for CWG members or $100 for non-members. Students are only $42, and priests or religious are invited to attend at no cost. Further information on the conference and registration is available online at www.catholicwritersconference.com.
