At vespers for the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, the Holy Father recalls the past year, praises God for his love and the mystery of his salvation, and encourages evangelization: 'Christ’s disciples are called to reawaken in themselves and in others the longing for God and the joy of living for him and bearing witness to him.' He also said: 'Let us place in his hands the tragedies of this world, and let us also offer him our hopes for a brighter future.'
