Amendment 2 was supported by the bishops, who said: 'True religious freedom does not just constitute freedom to worship on Sunday, but also includes the freedom to express one’s faith publicly.'
'It is in times like these that we turn to God, who is the consolation and hope for all of us,' Archbishop Listecki said in reference to Aug. 5 temple tragedy.
"Perhaps modern man does not perceive the beauty, grandeur and profound consolation contained in the word ‘Father,’ with which we can turn to God in prayer, because the father figure is often not sufficiently present in today’s world and is often not a sufficiently positive presence in everyday life,” the Holy Father said May 23.
Without prayer as 'the breath of the soul and of life,' the Holy Father said, the faithful 'risk suffocating in the midst of a thousand everyday things.'
