The Holy Father says in urbi et orbi message: 'The Child whom we contemplate is our salvation! He has brought to the world a universal message of reconciliation and peace. Let us open our hearts to him; let us receive him into our lives.'
At his Oct. 12 audience, Benedict expressed sorrow over incident that left dozens dead and hundreds injured: 'I join in the sorrow of the families of the victims and the entire Egyptian people, torn by attempts to undermine the peaceful coexistence between its communities, which is rather essential to preserve, especially in this time of transition.'
