But officials later stripped him of his medals when they learned he had once played professional baseball. Burt Lancaster stars as Thorpe, who endures bigotry and injustice with dignity, in this 1951 movie.

The Magnificat Day
EWTN Magnificat — the magazine used by thousands to follow the Daily Office and prayers of the Mass — has also become an event not to be missed. Doug Keck and Johnnette Benkovic will host EWTN’s coverage of the full day of activities. Starting with Mass from the Cathedral-Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul, the day will be filled with prayers, music and the Liturgy of the Hours, all celebrating the Year of Faith. Talks by Fathers Robert Barron and Peter John Cameron will be featured. The day concludes with a Eucharistic Procession through Philadelphia, followed by Benediction.
