Heavy Metal: HMS Victory

HISTORY This episode uses memoirs and re-enactments to highlight the battles and the incredible firepower of the British warship that was the flagship of the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Launched in 1765, the 850-man, 104-gun vessel was built with enough wood to cover the Empire State Building 1.5 times. Advisory: TV-PG.

Great Performances: Tanglewood’s 75th Anniversary

PBS This edition of the Tanglewood Festival in western Massachusetts features the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, the Tanglewood chorus and orchestra and soloists Emanuel Ax, Yo-Yo Ma, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Peter Serkin and James Taylor in a broad spectrum of musical classics.

The Story of Knock

EWTN On the evening of Aug. 21, 1879, Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist appeared by the church in Knock, County Mayo, Ireland. Along with them was an altar with a cross and a lamb, and angels were nearby. Today, the site is a much-loved Marian shrine.
