The Anglican Way: Porn and Gays

A few years back, Pope Benedict created the Ordinariate for disaffected Anglicans that thought that their religion had strayed from its Apostolic and biblical roots. A number of Anglicans made the move, but many more that have these concerns stayed within the communion. Perhaps they still had hope that the Anglican communion might return to its roots in Christianity.
Well, just in the last few days, any and all hope in the Anglican communion should have dried up if the statements of two of its most prominent leaders are the gauge.
Let's start with the Big Kahuna himself, the Archbishop of Canterbury, head of the communion. It came out that the Anglican Church has been investing its money in companies that profit pornography and gambling-- Yes, porn and gambling. Further, the investment rules of the Church specifically allowed for such investments stating "The Church's fund can invest in a company which holds up to 25% investment in industries such as pornography, gambling and pay-day lending, as well as 10% in weapons." Well then, its only 25% sinful I suppose.
Ok, so the investments were handled poorly. To say the least. But the real death-knell of Anglicanism came from the Archbishop's initial response to something absolutely repugnant to the Christianity they purport to preach. The Archbishop's response: "We've got to live in the real world and that means life is very complicated and you cannot sidestep the complexity. We've also got to be involved in day-to-day life and ask 'how do you actually live in the reality of the complexity of life today?'"
Ah. The real world is so very complicated. This is the statement of the Archbishop of Canterbury. If ever there was a sign that Anglicanism has completely lost its way it is the head of your Church justifying sin in the name of profit using the 'real world' line of argumentation. Ya know, because Jesus didn't know anything about the 'real world' when He came here, suffered, and died. He never had any 'real world' experience.
The Church is now reviewing its investment rules, not because it was sinful but because they were caught and embarrassed.
Well, if the 'there is no sin when compromising with the real world' doctrine of the Anglican's does not convince you that they have irrevocably strayed from biblical and Apostolic Christianity. How about this statement from one its most prominent and outspoken Archbishop's, albeit now retired.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu said that he would rather go to hell than to a heaven in which homosexuality is a sin.“
I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this,” he said, by way of denouncing religions that discriminate against gays, in Agence France-Presse..
He added, AFP reported: “I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place.”
Be careful what you wish for, Archbishop. You might just get it.
There is no coming back for the Anglican Communion. If there is anyone left in it that still adheres to traditional and apostolic Christianity, then there is only one place to turn.
The Anglican Communion is dead as is every other Christian sect that rejects the magesterium. When you reject your moorings, you have no choice but to drift. It's not that complicated, even in the real world.
