A recent federal study, “Family Structure and Children’s Health in the United States,” found that nuclear families are the best households for children’s health and emotional well-being.

Said Christian Post columnist Peter Sprigg, senior fellow for policy studies at the Family Research Council, “The advocates of marriage redefinition will have to find some other way to deny the obvious implications of the research — that children need a married mother and father.”

Which, of course, the Catholic Church has always known: “In creating man and woman, God instituted the human family and endowed it with its fundamental constitution. Its members are persons equal in dignity. For the common good of its members and of society, the family necessarily has manifold responsibilities, rights and duties” (Catechism 2203).
