Bad News for Babies: Here Comes Obama's 'Health Care'

American Papist blogger Thomas Peters reports a disturbing, but much anticipated story today:

Planned Parenthood Opens New Abortion Clinic, Credits Health Care Passage

Peters quotes Laura Berman at The Detroit News:

“An early sign of health care reform’s impact is Planned Parenthood’s decision to open a new Oakland County clinic within the next 18 months, adding to 15 locations, including Detroit, Warren and Livonia. Unlike other Detroit area centers, the new location is likely to include abortion services.

[Planned Parenthood President Cecile] Richards and Lori Lamerand, executive director of Planned Parenthood of Mid and South Michigan, are ramping up for a boom in birth control and other reproductive services — what Lamerand calls “an onslaught” of women poised to gain new access to reproductive health care.”

As Thomas Peters points out, “other reproductive services” means abortion, of course. It could not be more clear that votes for Obama and votes for the recent health care legislation are translating into more abortion. At tax payers’ expense.

The most surprising part: That the rush to fund more abortion has happened this quickly and without even an attempt to hide what it is.

The most nauseating part: Catholic votes are what got us into this ugly mess in the first place.

In the final days before the health care legislation was passed, Denver’s Archbishop Chaput wrote:

“Do not be misled. The Senate version of health-care reform currently being pushed ahead by congressional leaders and the White House—despite public resistance and numerous moral concerns—is bad law; and not simply bad, but dangerous.  It does not deserve, nor does it have, the support of the Catholic bishops in our country, who speak for the believing Catholic community.  In its current content, the Senate version of health-care legislation is not ‘reform.’ Catholics and other persons of good will concerned about the foundations of human dignity should oppose it.”

I wonder ... will the Catholics who ignored him then hear him now?
