CNN's Dumb Question

“Only 3 in 10 Americans would like to see the Court overturn Roe v. Wade,” reported CNN.com Monday.
CNN didn’t only report the number, they manufactured it in their own poll. “I am astonished that CNN could not do a better job in accurately portraying what Roe v. Wade says and doesn’t say,” said Father Frank Pavone.
The Priests for Life head objected to the question that read: “The 1973 Roe versus Wade decision established a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion, at least in the first three months of pregnancy. Would you like to see the Supreme Court completely overturn its Roe versus Wade decision, or not?”
To that question, respondents said:
30% Yes, overturn
68% No, not overturn
The problem: Only the year of Roe v. Wade is right in that question.
As Priests for Life put it: “The constitutional right found in Roe was not a right to abortion per se. Furthermore, Roe allowed abortion through all nine months, and if the public is going to be asked its opinion on Roe, they should be informed of that.”
Father Pavone’s advice to CNN.com: “Please hire a new legal team and a new research team before you ask the public another question about abortion.”
