Fewer Toys, More Thankfulness

Can tough economic times be good for children? Some experts think so. Peggy Sradnick, who runs a day-care center in New York and has been an early childhood educator for 37 years, told the Associated Press that a period of economic sacrifice “can only be a good thing” for today’s overindulged kids. Her wishful thinking may come true — and soon. Candace Corlett, president of WSL Strategic Retail, a marketing consultancy, told AP that close to half of parents plan to spend less money on their kids this Christmas.
