African Cardinal: Protect the Unborn

Cardinal Polycarp Pengo of Tanzania said certain provisions of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights are a violation of the right to life of unborn children, reported AllAfrica.

The provisions in the charter give women the rights to artificial contraception and abortion under the guise of “sexual and reproductive health.”

Members of the Standing Committee of the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) said in a statement, “We respectfully request all the governments of Africa to remove from the Protocol Article 14 # 1, e and 2, c and so defend our African cultural and religious values with regard to the sacredness of life.”

British Doctors Increasingly Pro-Life

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists reported a “slow and growing problem” of young doctors opting out of abortion training on moral grounds, the website for the London Evening Standard reported.

Julia Millington of the ProLife Alliance, agreed.

“We have been hearing for some time now that young doctors, in particular, do not want to work in this field,” she said. “Those choosing to go into medicine presumably do so because they want to cure sickness and disease, not end the lives of innocent human beings.”
