Judge Can’t Serve Because He Is Christian

According to a WorldNetDaily report, a magistrate judge in Sheffield, England, with an unblemished record was informed by the Sheffield Employment Tribunal he can’t serve on the local court’s family panel because he is a Catholic.

The case arose when Andrew McClintock, 63, realized he would be assigned to hear cases involving adoption by homosexual couples. He asked that his religious beliefs be accommodated and he be “screened” from such cases.

The tribunal ruled that the law of the land supersedes religious freedom or conscience.

Pope Names New Archbishop of Warsaw

Bishop Kazimierz Nyczr of Koszalin-Kolobrzeg was elevated to the position of archbishop of Warsaw March 3 by Pope Benedict, Vatican Radio reported.

The appointment came two months after Archbishop Stanislaw Wieglus resigned following his admission that he had collaborated with Poland’s communist secret police.
The 57-year-old archbishop said that he had long been convinced that both Poland and the Church needed to address the issues of their communist past. He said, “My conviction is simple: It is a lesson that must be risen above with serenity.”

Sanhedrin to Sacrifice Passover Lambs

The present-day Sanhedrin Court in Israel is seeking to revive the ancient rituals of the Temple, reported Ha’aretz.

The court on Feb. 27 decided to purchase a herd of sheep for ritual sacrifice at the site of the Temple on the eve of Passover, conditions on the Temple Mount permitting. The modern Sanhedrin was established several years ago and is headed by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz. It claims to be renewing the ancient Jewish high court, which existed until roughly 1,600 years ago, and meets once a week.
