Why Do Catholics ...?

Some of the middle-school youth in my parish created a video in which they say, “I am the young Church.” Something about it doesn’t make sense to me. Aren’t youth an integral part of the Church right now, just like people of all ages?

According to Colin Donovan, EWTN vice president of theology: “Christ, the head, and his members, the people, make up the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church. This sacramental reality is indifferent to the sex or age of the members. Are we not all ‘one body in Christ’ (Romans 12)? So, while I can see what the students are trying to say, as far as being the grown-ups of the future, and applaud their desire to make a difference, it is perhaps not the best formulation.”
