“[To] see the country at its wildest and most beautiful” is photographer Tom Murphy’s goal as he braves the elements in Yellowstone National Park to capture stunning winter landscapes and film bald eagles, bison, coyotes, elk, grizzly bears, otters and red foxes.


SUNDAY, NOV. 19

Desperate Crossing:

The Untold Story

Of the Mayflower

History Channel, 8 p.m.

This three-hour special uses dramatic re-creations to portray the Pilgrims, including their persecution by the Church of England, move to the Netherlands, voyage to the New World, dealings with Native Americans and epochal Thanksgiving dinner.


MONDAY, NOV. 20

A Charlie Brown

Thanksgiving, and…

ABC, 8 p.m.

In this “Peanuts” animated special from 1973, beagle Snoopy and bird Woodstock cater Thanksgiving dinner. Debuting at 8:30 p.m. is He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown, a special whose script is the last that the late “Peanuts” originator Charles M. Schulz created.


NOV. 21-23

Classroom: Conquest

 Of America

History Channel, 6 a.m. daily

This three-part series covers the Spanish-French rivalry in the Southeast, the Dutch-English conflict in the Northeast and the situations of the Russians, English and Spanish in the Northwest and California. A re-air.


THURSDAY, NOV. 23

Thanksgiving Lineup

Various

NBC opens the Turkey Day slate with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and its giant cartoon-character balloons at 9 a.m. Next up is The National Dog Show on NBC at 12 noon (taped Nov. 18). CBS, Fox and the NFL Network present National Football League games at 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. Familyland TV airs a Thanksgiving episode from the 1950s sitcom Make Room for Daddy, starring Danny Thomas (1914-1991), beloved Catholic entertainer and founder of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
