EWTN Pope Paul VI promulgated Lumen Gentium (Light of the Nations), Vatican II’s Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, on Nov. 21, 1964. Host Doug Keck interviews Dominican Father Brian Mullady about his book Light of the Nations, which explains the document, its relevance and the Church’s teaching authority.

How the Earth Was Made

HISTORY CHANNEL “God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good,” the Book of Genesis tells us. This special uses computer-generated images and accounts of scientific breakthroughs to discuss Earth’s geologic history, including the formation of the continents, the ratio of land to water and more. Values Voter Presidential Debate

SKY ANGEL Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly, Bobby Schindler of Terri’s Fight, Don Wildmon of the American Family Association and others will ask questions that matter to “values voters.” Seven Republican hopefuls will attend. Debate organizers say, “Every Democratic candidate declined the invitation for a similar debate the following week.”

Most Honorable Son

PBS Japanese-American Ben Kuroki, 90, served in World War II as a gunner on B-24 bombers in North Africa and Europe and on B-29s over Japan. In between his 58 aerial missions, he addressed San Francisco’s Commonwealth Club in 1943 to denounce the racism behind the internment of West Coast Japanese-Americans and he encouraged internees to cooperate with the military draft. New York Philharmonic Opening Night Gala

PBS In this two-hour Live from Lincoln Center telecast, famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma and the New York Philharmonic under Lorin Maazel team up for an all-Dvorak concert.

Seeing in the Dark

PBS This Timothy Ferris documentary profiles amateur stargazers who use inexpensive computer-controlled telescopes, sensitive digital cameras and Internet resources to capture spectacular images within and far outside our galaxy.

Marie Bellet in Concert

FAMILYLAND TV In this 90-minute concert, Catholic singer-songwriter Marie Bellet, proud mom of nine, illustrates her conviction that “To make sacrifices for marriage and children … is the noblest thing we can do.”


SATURDAY, 8 p.m.

Revolution in Boston: A Save Our History Special

HISTORY CHANNEL Boston’s Old State House, built in 1713, became a center for the Independence movement and its African Meeting House (1804) a hub for anti-slavery abolitionists. Advisory: TV-PG.
