Wow: The CatholicTV Challenge

CATHOLIC TV Grade-school kids compete in game-show style to answer questions about the Catholic faith, at 6:30 p.m. Mondays, 4 p.m. Tuesdays, 8 p.m. Wednesdays, 5 p.m. Thursdays, 1 p.m. Fridays, 7:30 p.m. Saturdays and midnight Sundays.

FAMILYLAND TV This 1938 British spy drama, directed by Charles Lamont, stars Leon Ames and Don Dillaway and centers on the world of cryptography in the troubled years that led up to World War II.

Papal Visit to Lourdes

EWTN Observing the 150th anniversary of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s visits to St. Bernadette, Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate Mass at 4 a.m. and lead a Eucharistic procession at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. On Monday, he will celebrate Mass and anoint the sick at 3:30 a.m.

Ten Commandments of the Mafia

DISCOVERY It’s too bad the Mafia doesn’t obey the real Ten Commandments, such as “Thou shalt not kill” and “Thou shalt not steal.” This two-hour show focuses on the Sicilian Mafia and a list of 10 rules for crime-family members that Italian police found when they raided a hideout in November 2007 and nabbed mob boss Salvatore Lo Piccolo. Some rules: “Never be seen with cops,” “Appointments must absolutely be respected” and this amazingly ironic dictum: “People who can’t be part of Cosa Nostra: … anyone who behaves badly and doesn’t hold to moral values.” Advisory: mobster themes.

PBS This Live from Lincoln Center 90-minute show features the Irish flutist James Galway and the Philharmonic under Lorin Maazel as they perform Berlioz’s “Roman Carnival Overture,” Ibert’s Flute Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.


THURSDAY, 11 p.m.

Investigating History: Mountain Massacre

HISTORY This show explains how a discovery in 1999 shed light on a Mormon militia’s 1857 massacre of the Fancher wagon train in Utah Territory. Advisory: TV-PG.

How Do They Do It?

SCIENCE CHANNEL At 8 p.m., see how giant cargo ships are made, along with Peterbilt heavy vehicles. At 8:30 p.m., watch coins being minted and huge freeways erected.
