Franciscan University Presents: Evangelizing Today’s College Students

EWTN According to its mission statement, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students exists “To know Christ Jesus, and to fulfill his great commission, by first living and then communicating the fullness of life within the family of God, the Church.” Founder Curtis Martin and a round-table panel look at how collegians can keep their faith — and share it with others.


MONDAY, 9 p.m.

9/11: The Towers and the Pentagon

DISCOVERY CHANNEL Forensic engineers study why the hijacked planes’ crashes on Sept. 11, 2001, resulted in the collapse of the World Trade Center towers but did not damage the Pentagon as extensively. Advisory: TV-14 (violent images).


TUESDAY, 6:30 p.m.

Chile Quasimodo: Christ’s Cowboys

EWTN “Viva Cristo Rey! (Long Live Christ the King!)” shout Chile’s huasos (cowboys) and spectators on the first Sunday after Easter as they set off on horseback for Correr a Cristo (Run to Christ), and their priests bring Communion to shut-ins. This feast, also called Cuasimodo, reenacts the 19th-century cowboys’ guarding of priests from bandits.


TUESDAYS AND THURSDAYS

I Believe in Love

FAMILYLAND TV “If you love me, you will keep my commandments,” Jesus told the apostles at the Last Supper. This 21-episode show about love premieres tonight and will air at midnight on Tuesdays and 10:30 p.m. on Thursdays.


WEDNESDAY, 9 p.m.

Great Performances: Pavarotti: A Life in Seven Arias

PBS The tenor Luciano Pavarotti died a year ago last week. This 90-minute show assembles tributes from a host of fellow stars, conductors and critics and presents Pavarotti’s performances of seven beloved arias as emblematic of his life and career. They include “Che gelida manina” from Puccini’s “La Boheme,” “Pour mon ame” from Donizetti’s “La Fille du Regiment,” Cesar Franck’s “Panis Angelicus,” “Questa o quella” from Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” “Nessun dorma” from Puccini’s “Turandot,” “E lucevan le stelle” from Puccini’s “Tosca” and “Ingemisco” from Verdi’s “Requiem.”


THURSDAY, all day

HISTORY These shows frame the tragedy: The World Trade Center: An Historical Look (6 a.m.; TV-G), The World Trade Center: Rise and Fall of an American Icon (8 a.m., 2 p.m.), Countdown to Ground Zero (10 a.m., 4 p.m.), The Day the Towers Fell (noon, 6 p.m.), The Man Who Predicted 9/11 (8 p.m.) Advisory: The last four are TV-PG (violent images).


FRIDAY, 10 p.m.

Pennsylvania Diners and Other Roadside Restaurants

PBS This Rick Sebak “scrapbook documentary” uses old home movies, photos, archival film and memorabilia to portray the histories, staffs, customs and customers of some 20 small-town and big-city diners in the “Keystone State.” A re-air from 1994.
