SUNDAYS, 9 p.m.

When Weather Changed History

WEATHER CHANNEL The new season analyzes America’s response to calamities such as the Galveston, Texas, hurricane of 1900 — and also reveals weather’s less-explored role in accidents such as the wreck of the Hindenburg zeppelin in 1937 and the Chicago fire of 1871. Re-airs every night, same time; new episode every Sunday.

MONDAY-FRIDAY, 6 a.m.

The Gospel of Life vs. the Culture of Death

EWTN In this five-part, half-hour daily series, Father Wade Menezes, director of vocations and seminarians for the Fathers of Mercy, explains what is at stake in the fight for the right to life. He outlines the worldwide battle between the defenders and enemies of human life, shows how the culture of death attacks the dignity of the person and spotlights its main aspects, explains how sin fosters the culture of death, and identifies 20 figures whose philosophies and politics have promoted immorality.

TUESDAY, 5 p.m.

If Walls Could Talk

HOME & GARDEN TV A family in Missouri discovers that their home is linked to the title characters of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), novels by Mark Twain (1835-1910).

WEDNESDAY, SATURDAY

The Holy Spirit in the Life of the Church

FAMILYLAND TV Veni, Sancte Spiritus, reple tuorum corda fidelium (Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful). At midnight and 9 p.m. Wednesdays and 4:30 a.m. Saturdays, this series tells us about the activity of the Third Person of the Trinity.

WEDNESDAY, 8 p.m., live

World Series, Game One

FOX SPORTS “A hot dog at the ballpark is better than steak at the Ritz,” said actor Humphrey Bogart. That goes for a hot dog in front of the TV set, too, as baseball’s annual World Series gets under way between the champions of the American League and National League. Games two and three of this best-of-seven series are at 8 p.m. Thursday and Saturday. Teams not yet determined as of our deadline.

FRIDAY, 8 p.m.

Day After D-Day

MILITARY CHANNEL Veterans of the Allied invasion of France on June 6, 1944, recall their combat experiences that day and in the next 72 hours of fighting against the desperate German forces. Advisory: TV-PG.

SATURDAY, 4:30 p.m.

RealFaith TV

Catholic TV The teenagers in this show from the Diocese of Trenton, N.J., discuss “Distinguishing Faith From Superstition”: In prayer we trust God, but super-stition is sinful. Also airs 3:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 p.m. Sundays.
