National Memorial Day Concert

PBS Actors Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise will co-host this year’s concert before 300,000 people outside the U.S. Capitol. Dramatic readings and filmed segments on Arlington National Cemetery and our troops wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan will supplement the patriotic pieces of the National Symphony Orchestra, U.S. service chorales and guests.

PBS At the dedication of the National World War II Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C., in 2004, survivors of Air Group 16, the three-man crews of the Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bombers on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington, held their last reunion.

Frontline Families: Captain and Mrs. Guy Gruters, Vietnam

EWTN Capt. Guy Gruters flew more than 400 combat missions over North Vietnam in his F-100 Super Sabre jet, was shot down twice and was unbroken by five years of torture as a prisoner of war. He credits his Catholic faith, people’s prayers for him, and his love of country, fellow servicemen and his wife Sandy and their seven children.
