March Pledge Week

PBS Check local listings to see which of these programs your PBS station is showing. The Osmonds’ 50th Anniversary Reunion ignites memories. Andre Rieu: In Wonderland spotlights violinist Rieu with guests at the Efteling theme park in the Netherlands. James Last at the Royal Albert Hall features the German Big Band leader. Sarah Brightman: Symphony in Vienna includes singer Sarah’s favorites and duets of hers with Alessandro Safina and Fernando Lima. Daniel O’Donnell at Home in Ireland combines Irish and American tunes with scenes of the Auld Sod. Martina McBride in Concert highlights the country singer. The High Kings presents a new Irish ballad group doing “The Parting Glass,” “The Wild Rover” and more.

Life on the Rock

EWTN “The Spirit of St. Patrick” is tonight’s theme for Celtic Spring, the Wood family’s Irish-American dance and fiddle band from Ojai, Calif. Dad Greg plays the bodhran (Irish drum), Mom Mary plays the keyboard and their children — Elizabeth, Deirdre, Sean, Patrick, Maire and Aidan — play the fiddle and perform step dancing.


FRIDAY, 9 p.m.

Battle 360

HISTORY CHANNEL At 9 p.m., this documentary series’ “Call to Duty” episode profiles the World War II aircraft carrier U.S.S. Enterprise, which fought in every major sea battle in the Pacific. We witness the coordination between the carrier and its destroyers and subs. At 10 p.m., “Vengeance at Midway” follows Enterprise and its sister carriers Yorktown and Hornet in the Battle of Midway, June 4-7, 1942, which permanently weakened the Japanese navy. Advisory: TV-PG for war scenes.


SATURDAY, 12:30 p.m.

The Victory Garden: Umbria

PBS In central Italy’s Umbria region, reporter Adrian Bloom explores the Mediterranean home of John Hill and the town of Deruta, for centuries a ceramics center. Then Chef Marian samples porcini mushrooms with homemade pasta at Perugia’s Palazzo Terranova country house hotel. A re-air from 2000.
