Nanna’s Cottage

FAMILYLAND TV At 5 p.m. Mondays, 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays and 3:30 p.m. Fridays, this children’s show features 75-year-old archaeologist and traveler Abigale “Nanna” Macaroon (Rachael Rizzo) giving her granddaughter Rosey (Gracie Porter), age 7, and her little pals important lessons about life, character and the world. Music, puppets and occasional nature scenes add to the fun.


SUNDAY, 11 a.m.

Archbishop Sheen’s Sainthood Cause

EWTN At 11 a.m., in Bishop Sheen Preview Show, Raymond Arroyo will interview Father Andrew Apostoli, CFR, vice-postulator of the canonization cause of Archbishop Fulton Sheen (1895-1979), about recent progress in behalf of the beloved and brilliant theologian, author, radio and TV host and convert-maker who made a holy hour every day of his 60-year priesthood. At 11:30 a.m., in Bishop Sheen Mass Live, Bishop Daniel Jenky will say Mass in the Cathedral in Peoria, Ill., and all of the cause’s collected materials will be certified for forwarding to the Holy Father.


MONDAY, 7 a.m.

The Real West: Buffalo Bill & His Wild West

HISTORY CHANNEL Frontiersman William “Buffalo Bill” Cody (1846-1917) never appended the label “show” to his touring troupe of cowboys, American Indians and expert shots, because to him they were the true Wild West. Advisory: TV-PG.


MONDAY, 9 p.m.

American Experience: Grand Central

PBS Archival film and photos and interviews with architects, engineers and historians tell the story of the design, epic construction and history of New York City’s Grand Central Terminal, which opened in 1913 and helped spur the growth of midtown Manhattan.


WEDNESDAY, 10:30 a.m.

Pope Benedict’s Ash Wednesday Mass

EWTN “We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God,” St. Paul tells us in II Corinthians. Pope Benedict XVI celebrates Mass with the blessing and imposition of the ashes in the beautiful fifth-century Basilica of Santa Sabina, which Pope Honorius III gave to St. Dominic in 1219 for his fledgling Order of Preachers. Re-airs at 6:30 p.m.


SATURDAY, 8 p.m.

A Charlie Brown Valentine

ABC This 2002 “Peanuts” special was the first produced after creator Charles Schulz died in 2000. Charlie Brown decides to invite his loved-from-afar little red-haired girl to a Valentine’s Day dance, but misdials and reaches Peppermint Patty instead.


SATURDAY, 10 p.m.

Little Ice Age: Big Chill

HISTORY CHANNEL Naturally caused climate fluctuation is a fact of history, as the Little Ice Age from ca. 1300 to ca. 1850 shows. That frigid period drove the Vikings from Greenland and caused other major historical shifts. Advisory: TV-PG.
