FAMILYLAND TV “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel,” wrote St. Paul in the Letter to the Romans. “It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” At 3:30 a.m. Sundays and 10 a.m. Fridays, this series mines the riches of St. Paul’s letter.

Parables of Mark

CATHOLICTV In this series, Msgr. John Zenz examines the parables of Jesus in St. Mark’s Gospel. A special guest is former baseball broadcaster Ernie Harwell, 91. Episodes air 3:30 p.m. Mondays, noon Wednesdays, 5:30 a.m. Fridays, and 11:30 p.m. Saturdays.

Conversion: Following the Call of Christ

EWTN Father Robert Barron of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries relays Jesus’ call to us to “Repent, and believe in the Gospel.” In these daily episodes, Father Barron tells us to give up things that keep us from following Jesus; reminds us that Jesus loves sinners and calls us to himself; and says we must follow God’s will, not our own.

Secrets of the Star Disc

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL The copper and gold dinner plate-sized Nebra star disc, uncovered in Germany in 1999, is a Bronze Age “chart” from 1800-1600 B.C. that shows the sun, moon and Pleiades (a star cluster in the Taurus constellation) and has what resembles an Egyptian star tracker.

Save Our History: Valley Forge

HISTORY Roughly 2,000 soldiers of the Continental Army died of cold, hunger or disease at their camp in Valley Forge in the winter of 1777-1778.

St. Anthony of Padua

EWTN On the feast day of St. Anthony the Wonder Worker (1195-1231), Father Benedict Groeschel reflects on his life (Meditations, 4 a.m.), Bob and Penny Lord (Super Saints, 6 a.m.) visit sites associated with him in Italy, and a documentary (Lives of the Saints, 4 p.m.) chronicles his story.
