NBC As the Vancouver games close, Catholic viewers can reflect upon what Pope Benedict told the participants: “May sport always be a valued building block of peace and friendship between people and nations.”

EWTN March Series Debuts

EWTN In All Things Girl at 6pm Mondays, Teresa Tomeo and friends show ’tweens (ages 10-13) how to live as “daughters of the King.” At 6:30am Sundays, Father Andrew Apostoli of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal engages in Answering the Questions of Jesus. In Catholicism on Campus: The Students at 10pm Thursdays, Msgr. Stuart Swetland takes questions from students at Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland.

In The Faithful Traveler at 5pm Sundays, Diana von Glahn visits U.S. shrines and describes their namesake saints. In Military Orders and the Crusades at 5:30pm Sundays, James and Joanna Bogle profile the medieval military-religious orders. In NFP: Embracing the Marital Gift, at 10:30pm Fridays, expert Damon Owens explains natural family planning and its proper use.

TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES This 1951 screen version of Henryk Sinkiewicz’s 1895 novel about Catholic martyrs under the Roman tyrant Nero makes good Lenten viewing.

Modern Marvels: Start to Finish

PBS Highlights include The Priests in Concert at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, with the singing Irish Fathers Eugene and Martin O’Hagan and Father David Delargey; When Irish Eyes Are Smiling: An Irish Parade of Stars, with Bing Crosby, the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, and many more; and Visions of Canada, with beautiful aerial and ground footage portraying Canada’s landscapes and cultural heritages. X Winter Paralympic Games

NBC The games, which opened in Vancouver the previous night, run through March 21. Athletes with mobility disabilities, amputations, blindness and cerebral palsy compete in alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice sledge hockey and wheelchair curling.
