The World Sporthorse Championships

ANIMAL PLANET In this one-hour show taped Nov. 2 in Syracuse, N.Y., an All-Star international field of horses completes three rounds of show jumping. Advisory: TV-PG.

Skiing and Speed Skating World Events

NBC At 10 a.m., in a 90-minute program taped earlier today, Maribor, Slovenia, hosts the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Women’s Slalom. At 11:30 a.m., in another 90-minute show taped earlier today, Adelboden, Switzerland, is the site of the same tour’s Men’s Slalom. At 4 p.m., a two-hour program spotlights the ISU European Speed Skating World Championships taped earlier today in Heerenveen, the Netherlands.


MONDAY-WEDNESDAY, 6 p.m.

Make Room for Daddy FAMILYLAND TV In episodes all-new to Familyland TV, Make Room for Daddy features Danny Thomas (b. Amos Yaqoob, 1912-1991), the beloved Catholic actor, comedian and philanthropist who founded St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In the show, nightclub singer Danny tries to balance his show business career with his family duties.

Daily Mass Live

CATHOLICTV Wrote St. Leonard of Port Maurice, “I believe that were it not for the holy Mass, at this moment the world would be in the abyss, unable to bear up under the mighty load of its iniquities. Mass is the potent prop that holds the world on its base.” In these daily broadcasts, various Boston-area priests celebrate the Holy Sacrifice.

The Heart Has Its Reasons

EWTN This 1984 documentary profiles L’Arche Communities, the groups founded by Jean Vanier (b. 1928) in France in 1964 in which volunteers and mentally and physically challenged people dwell together in l’arche (the ark).


THURSDAY, 8 p.m.

Life on the Rock

EWTN Tonight’s guests are from Students for Life of America, which has organized student pro-life groups on 450 college campuses and sends free right-to-life materials to pro-life students and pressures Planned Parenthood via video activism.


SATURDAY, 8 p.m.

Washington the Warrior

HISTORY This documentary describes how George Washington, the father of our country, acquired his leadership skills. Advisory: TV-PG.


SATURDAY, 10:30 p.m.

Three Came Home

FAMILYLAND TV This 1950 drama, scripted by Nunnally Johnson and starring Claudette Colbert and Sessue Hayakawa, is based on a book by Agnes Newton Keith (1901-1982) about her life in Japanese prisoner of war camps in Borneo and Sarawak with her young son, Henry. Advisory: Grim subject matter.
